I took my wife out to eat the other day at a Mexican restaurant and something very interesting happened. When I went to pay the bill, they gave me the wrong amount of change back. So I went back into the restaurant and told them of the mistake.

They told me that it WAS NOT A MISTAKE. You see I paid the bill in cash. I did not charge it. Normally the charge company siezes a sizable amount of the profits when you pay by charge. It can add up. So the restaurant just decided to give the money back if someone paid in cash.

Wow, I hope this trend continues.

Some gas stations do that. Give you a cheaper price if you pay cash. But I never heard of restaurants doing that.

One of the restaurants where I live does this but opposite: they charge more for card payments

When I bought my computer with Windows 98 the store gave a 3% discount if you pay cash.
