US Gold medallist fencer Race Imboden a knee on the podium during Friday’s medal ceremony at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
As The Star Spangled Banner played he remained kneeling as his teammates stood — his protest mirroring those staged just a few years ago by then NFL star Colin Kaepernick.
While Kaepernick had taken a knee over racial and social injustice, Imboden made his protest against several issues he has with the United States, most notably President Donald Trump, whom he said “spreads hate”.
Imboden tweeted a photo of the moment and asked for a “call for change” in the United States.

Imboden is a really fine example of a true American hero, willing to risk his career (under the trump regime) to express his support for justice

Too bad they do not hand out medals for virtue signaling.

"Taking the knee" represents obedience not defiance (game of thrones).

I think the Knights of the Round Table would laugh at him.

Looks like Imboden and hammer thrower Gwen Berry might face disciplinary action and possible ban from competing in the Olympic Games next year

Much like the way Trump got Colin K removed he's phones the US Olympic committee to make sure these two can't compete either.

Again what happened to the cherished freedom of speech? Does it only apply to this foul mouthed POTUS?

What freedom of speech? Conservative Twitter accounts get shut down, all the time. What's good for the goose...

Athletes shouldn’t be banned for expressions of civil disobedience.

Perhaps. Or, if he breaks their code or creed, they may wage him in battle.
The only problem with that is the ratio of US knights vs UK nights.

And of course the time paradox that President Trump would not exist if any of his ancestors were killed...
and of course, it would be hard for the round table knights to wage war unless Mr. Trump went back in time
in Elon Musks time machine.... (surely, if anyone has one....)..

One of the great protests was suffragette Emily Davison who walked in front of the Kings race horse in Epsom June 1913

Her sacrifice helped establish vote for women in the UK
