A day after President Trump took aim at a controversial movie where the world’s “elite” openly “hunted” Republicans, the studio behind The Hunt has cancelled the film.
Universal Pictures, the studio behind The Hunt, had already paused its marketing campaign for the violent satire, but in a statement today announced it would be going one step further.
“While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film,” a Universal Pictures spokesman said in a statement.

The movie was cancelled because of the El Paso and Dayton shootings.

But no, we shouldn’t be encouraging violence against those who disagree with us politically.

If he couldn't make everything about Trump it wouldn't allow him to make 20 posts a day about Trump.

Censorship... it's happening.

Inciting violence is ok then? There's real censorship going on but this isn't it. As if Hollywood care what Trump says. And they bash on Southern people all the time.

The premise was in poor taste, to say the least.

Sorta like giving a thumb's-up sign while holding a child whose parents you've just had arrested and deported.

What are you talking about? There's always been censorship and oppression in the states.

I've heard they censor stuff in cartoons imported from Canada but have no problem if their own cartoons contain the same "offensive" content.

YouTubers are getting demonetized for using the word "heck" or "darn" while there are these Elsagate videos where bootlegs of popular child-friendly characters, mostly from Disney and Marvel comics, are shown in scenes of graphic violence, mature sexual themes and graphic toilet "humor". And yet Disney has done nothing about this even though everyone knows how protective they are of their characters.

In spite of the fact that countries with stricter gun control have less gun-related deaths or violence, the states thinks it should ban things like video games and toy weapons instead of at least making gun control stricter.

Public smoking is still allowed in most places in the states while anti-vaxxers and comspiracy theorists won't shut up about all the horrible chemicals the government is supposedly putting in vaccines and stuff like sunscreen so that using it will *give* you cancer.

It's bad only when the hypothetical arch villains are republicans (apparently)

Universal Pictures canned the move the day after Trump openly railed the film. He sneakily tried to tie it to sensitivity over the El Paso and Ohio shootings

Sounds like a really crap movie anyway.
Maybe he did us a favour.

You sound like you are really outraged that he stopped a film that would portray liberals as deranged evil murderers. He actually did them a favor.

Let me know when they even consider making a film about lynching liberals.

What I find amusing is that on one hand nobody does anything he wants including his own staff. But on the other hand he is this micromanaging dictator whom everyone obeys.

And in the remake department, a movie that is kind of a cross between "Surviving the Game" and "The Hunt" is coming out next year. The movie is about a group of high profile politicians dumping a cargo helicopter full of homeless people in the middle of the wilderness and hunting them with military style weaponry. This film is not intended to invite violence
