(clicky)Korean mother given virtual heavenly reunion with her late daughter
A grieving mother was recently given the chance be reunited with a recreation of her deceased daughter in virtual reality. Jang Ji-sung's daughter Nayeon died in 2016 from an incurable disease at the age of seven.
The video (uploaded by MBC Documentary) of Ji-sun interacting with her deceased daughter was aired as part of a South Korean documentary on February 6. The team behind the documentary spent eight months creating the VR recreation of Nayeon, reports PC Gamer. this was a last-ditch therapy for the mother who was in a most pitiable state, turning her house into a shrine for her late daughter, making herself a shut-in in the process.
WARNING- this [youtube] is shockingly sad, heartbreaking, i couldn't finish watching it more than a little bit into it. the wisdom of this particular therapy is much in debate online, the usual toxic web trolls have been harshly judging the poor woman, telling her [in other words] to "just man up." i am curious as to what the rest of you, my WP co-conspirators, think of this. i think if it works, if it helps her to process the suddenness of her loss, then all the better. as JFK once tartly observed, "i don't care if it's horsepiss as long as it works."
