At least 20 killed by active shooter in Thailand

A manhunt is underway for a Thai soldier in a shooting spree that began at a military base,then sent shoppers for cover when he entered a shopping mall.

We can't confirm if there are any hostages taken at this point but we believe the shooter is hold up inside terminal 21 shopping mall,authorities said.

Both police and military have been deployed to the area,hours after the rampage began officers have led some people out of the mall.

The shooting happened Nakhon Ratchasima province,known as Korat,everyone was running into shops and barricading doors as word spread of the mass shooting.

The gunman's motive is not known at this time,the suspect is Thai army Sub Lt. Jakrapath Thomma,a defense ministry spokesman said.

Guardian report that his last Facebook post (account now removed by the company) reads:

It's been reported another 31 are injured,Investigator's believe a dispute over a land deal gone bad may be the motive,but it's not sure at this point.

There's a militant separatist group in southern Thailand who are ethnically and religiously closer to the people of the Malay archipelago who are likely the source of this gunman.
