If people respond to the protesters, it is. I don't think responding is smart. Let them burn the place down, who cares? I'm a Trump supporter, but you wouldn't catch me giving these cretins the time of day. Nor would I live in an area where anyone behaves this way. These cities are the exact places that would choose our next president in every single election, were it not for the Electoral College.

As most people on either side of the aisle don't want such a thing, I'd say no... for the time being.

Look at Portland, the rioters hate Democrats too.

They rioted outside the Democrat mayor's home.

They torched his condo building and chanted "Happy tear gas to you".

In order to have a civil war there needs to be two or a least a limited amount of sides. I do not think we have that now. Are you Trumper or a RINO?, a feminist or a TERF?.

I agree that things are falling apart, that norms that held different people together are falling apart and have fallen apart at a freighting pace. Resistance to this collapse seems futile. But I envision more Iraq 2006 the America 1863.

It really depends right now no but if certain things happened like forced gun confiscation , completely eliminating freedom of religion ect could lead us down that road. If someone to steal my property they wouldn't get it without a fight.

This is about the third thread on this subject that I have seen and my answer is the same as previous. The Blue states need the oil,gas and agriculture to much that the red states have.

No there will be no civil war, remember in the 1860's we weren't oil,gas dependent and the North still had good farming and agriculture.

Neither of those things will ever happen. Though I'd get drunk to celebrate if the government ever cracked down on those prosperity gospel evangelicals.

DE, how do you see the weaponizing of two sides panning out? The article mentions sales of guns and ammo, but military tech operates on a way higher level of power and destruction. Technology is in a vastly different place than it was in the last civil war. If one side gets the military, how can the other even begin to fight?

That's the thing, I believe that the military might split, just like it did in the last civil war. I think people are under the impression that the rebels who fought against the Union were all civilian volunteers or something. They were not, many of them were formerly part of the US army but basically betrayed their country and switched sides out of loyalty to the south.

You guys don't think that our current military could be just as split over Trump? Just like all these civilians who are split over him, I imagine many soldiers are just as split over loving him and hating him.

How many people have access to the most advanced weaponry?

One major difference, the military at the time didn't depend on GPS & data networks.

So ya'll truly believe that with the recent violence and killings happening during these protests and the tensions building higher and higher that nothing is going to happen at all after election day? No violence? No attempted coup? No resisting our next president who will be deeply resented no matter who wins?

I think Trump is really good at playing that idea up in order to add it to his own campaign's hype, but as far as I'm concerned internal conflict is basically as unpatriotic as it gets. People resist every president, Trump was simply more antagonistic than most in response.

Well people are already shooting and killing each other over him. I just don't get how you people can yawn and take this lightly.
