First they allow their head honcho to be "president for life", and apparently now they are returning to their Maoist ways of suppressing religion. Never actually a democracy China seems to be returning to its totalitarian ways (but with capitalist prosperity).
And not just in the outlying territories of ethnic minorities (where religion is a badge of defiance against the Han Chinese) like the Buddhist Tibetans and the Muslim Uighurs, but in China proper itself.
During Glasnost they dropped the Marxist laws against religions, and both native religions (taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism), and the various sects of Christianity became popular.
Some years ago the regime already outlawed...get this... they made it "illegal" to "reincarnate".
Dead folks out there...sorry...you cant come back and be reborn!
Even if reincarnation were proven to be a real thing- how would you "outlaw" it? You could mete out the death penalty for it... but that would just cause the perp...come back again!
If you outlaw reincarnation then...only outlaws will reincarnate! That's what I always say!
