Scott Morrison has choked back tears while reading a roll call of Australian dead in Afghanistan, revealing it was the family of one digger in particular that moved him to weep.
“These brave Australians are amongst our greatest ever, who have served in the name of freedom,” he said. “The loss is great. We think of their families, their friends, the life they would have lived.”

Morrison's comments/tears elicited some surprise from advocates for aboriginal deaths in custody as well as advocates for domestic violence.
In the same period 41 Australian soldiers died after being posted in Afghanistan some 430 aboriginal people died in police custody and many hundreds of women were killed by violent partners. One radio announcer (in response to Scomo's crying) mentioned one victim was burned to death in her backyard and suffered severe pain.
It would be nice for our prime minister to shed tears for the other victims in our country instead of grandstanding on ANZAC day memorials shedding fake tears.
