What do folks think about the Bill and Melinda Gates divorce

I looked for this topic but didn't find one.

Does this belong at an autism site? Well yeah, I think he's got some autism traits. Not as much as Mark Zuckerman, but yeah. (Not an informed professional opinion, of course)

I hope it is an amicable one.....nobody will suffer financially from this, that's for sure.

They were married quite a long time; they put up with each other for all this time.

It seems like Bill has at least some Spectrum characteristics; I'm not really sure about Melinda.

I'm thinking of this analogy: Maybe Melinda is like Princess Di, and Bill's ex is like Camilla. Bill used to vacation with his ex at least one a year.

I could never love Bill Gates. He is so cerebral and projects reptilian characteristics. But maybe that's just my take on it.

I can't say that the private lives of rich folks concerns me all that much.

It's a ruthless profiteering software empire that I'm deeply familiar with & enabled by. Whether you think it's run by the lizard king is of little consequence to me save for being pretty damn funny.

There is nothing else to be done with that much money. You literally have to give it away if you want to do anything for yourself with it at that point.

Yeah ... he is going to be reduced to living off only a few million per week ... poor, poor Bill ...

Oh, they have plenty to do with that money. All the billionaires are working on an elaborate spaceship, and have already colonized Mars. When everything turns to s**t here, and we're gasping for breath as we fry in the sun, they'll be safely on that ship, flipping us the bird, saying, "So long, suckers!"

The "ex" is named Ann Winblad.

Melinda agreed to this arrangement. Who knows? Maybe she got tired of it.....

Oh, stop. It's a community property state, they were married for a significant amount of time, and she enabled him to have something like a normal life - 3 children, for instance. Plus their charitable foundation was always a joint enterprise. She humanized him to the rest of the world, in my opinion.

So it's not Bill's money that he's going to be dishing out. She's entitled to half of the money they came by during their lengthy union.

I had to google who Bill Gates is. I'd heard of him but wasn't sure - I actually thought he had died a few years ago.

Divorces happen all the time. I'm sure their settlement will be overseen carefully.
