Shameful.

This article does make a mistake by saying that the counter-protesters were supporting the anti-LGBT law because of Christian values, but this ignores that much of the pushback against LGBT acceptance has come from conservative atheists. Hungary is one of the most irreligious countries in Europe. Atheist Hungarian conservatives see LGBT rights as something being imposed on them (horrors!) by degenerate western Europeans and Americans who want to destroy Hungarian national identity.

They object to fags like me having rights on purely secular traditionalist grounds. It's all seen as part of a conspiracy by globalists and Jews Marxists. It's part of the Hungarian nationalist victim complex they've had ever since the Treaty of Trianon.

It would take a modern day Matyas Rakosi to undo Orban's damage.

Strongman Trump failed here in the USA. Hopefully, we'll be seeing the crumbling of strongman power in Hungary and elsewhere. Then again, I might just be a Pollyanna.
