Every major Australian city within range of Chinese missiles: Peter Dutton issues stark warning

Defence Minister Peter Dutton has labeled China’s militarisation “alarming” and claimed there was a “significant disconnect” between the Asian superpower's “words and actions”.

Every Australian city stands vulnerable to a Chinese missile attack Defence Minister Peter Dutton has told the National Press Club.

Speaking on Friday, Mr Dutton said Australia is at the epicentre of “global strategic competition” caused by the rise of China as a world power.

“A region witness to a military build-up of a scale and ambition that historically has rarely been associated with peaceful outcomes,” he said.

“Every major city in Australia, including Hobart, is within range of China's missiles.”

Meanwhile China is exerting increasing pressure to “compel compliance” over matters of security, trade and economics and media, he added.
