3 killed, 6 injured in shooting at Michigan high school

Quote:
Three people were killed and six others were injured Tuesday in a shooting at a Michigan high school, authorities said. The lone suspect, a 15-year-old sophomore at the school, was taken into custody without incident, they said.

The suspect was taken into custody within five minutes of the initial 911 call, McCabe said. Police recovered a semi-automatic handgun from the scene.

Police did not identify the deceased victims but said one of the six injured people was a teacher at the school. Authorities are conducting a secondary search of the school to locate any additional victims.

Michigan has always been close to heart for me since thats where I did my first ph.d.

So did they get the suspect to tell what his motives were?

This is pure speculation; but possible motivations may include:

• The shooter hated a specific ethnicity, religion, or political persuasion.
• The shooter wanted "fame and glory".
• The shooter was abused by his parent(s).
• The shooter was bullied by a guy.
• The shooter was obeying the voices in his head.
• The shooter was on medication.
• The shooter was rejected by a girl.
• The shooter was ridiculed by a teacher.
• The shooter was socially isolated (e.g., "Shunned").

Or maybe some combination of the above.

Every willful action requires at least one motivation, even if it is only to relieve boredom.

Easy access to firearms has become way too common.

Live Updates: Shooting at High School in Michigan Leaves 3 Dead

Quote:
Michael McCabe, the Oakland County undersheriff, said two of the injured people were in surgery, in unknown condition, on Tuesday evening. The six others were in stable condition. One teacher and seven students were among the injured.

The authorities received the first of more than a hundred 911 calls about the shooting at 12:51 p.m., Undersheriff McCabe said. He said the gunman, a sophomore at Oxford High School, “gave up without any problems” and was in custody within five minutes.

The conditions of those who were injured were not immediately known, but some were taken to local hospitals, the authorities said.

he gunman, whose name was not immediately released, fired 15 to 20 shots with a semiautomatic handgun, the authorities said.

Undersheriff McCabe said one of the deputies who helped take the gunman into custody was assigned to patrol the high school full time.

The gunman “invoked his right not to speak” and asked for a lawyer, Undersheriff McCabe said. The authorities said they did not believe he had planned the shooting with anyone else. They said they were still investigating whether it was a random shooting or a targeted one.
