Australia will continue to support Ukrainian war effort
Hooah!
Defence Minister Richard Marles will not let the Albanese Government's support for Ukraine wane, insisting the embattled nation's fight is "profoundly essential" to Australia's national interest.

Friday marked the first anniversary since President Vladimir Putin launched a “special military operation” and a full-scale invasion of Ukraine with a major spring offensive expected to mark the occasion.
Australia announced on Friday a new $33 million package to supply military drones for Ukraine along with a host of new sanctions with Mr Marles insisting there would be no backing down from the Federal Government’s support.
“When we think about this and we look at how we should be acting what’s clear to us is the principles at stake in the conflict in Ukraine,” he told Sky News Australia host Tom Connell.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton says Australia needs to send a clear message to Russia that as friends of Ukraine, we will keep supporting and helping them.
“We need to make sure on this anniversary that as friends of Ukraine we all double down,” Mr Dutton told Sky News Australia.
“We continue to make it very clear to Russia and the rest of the world that sanctions continue that our supply of defense material will continue.
“So that the fight can continue, and Ukraine won’t be overcome by Russia forces, I think that’s the most important message on this anniversary”.

meanwhile ordinary Australians are paying the price for Dutton's "selective" friendship with Ukraine

This is a war with no end. And it's going to end badly for us.
You might be financially comfortable Pepe (so probably is Peter Dutton) but for the average Australian all we are doing is committing economic suicide and you know that. Old people are already frightened of coal power stations closing and spending winters freezing to death due to unpaid bills.

You don't blame the Ukrainian war.
You blame left-wing climate change policies that don't allow increased supplies of gas and coal energy generation.
BTW, You do know your CCP friends in china are opening hundreds of new coal power plants, right?

Interested to know how you feel about us in the US footing the bill? We have people losing their homes, unable to afford groceries (due to inflation that always comes with a democrat), the cost of gasoline, etc...
I'm convinced Ukraine is blackmailing Joe Biden, the democrats are corrupt enough to pay any amount of money to keep the public from knowing how corrupt they are.
So, Cyberdad, what say you? Should the US citizens be forced to pay an additional 37 Billion (in addition to the 75 Billion we've already given)? I know you don't want to spend your money, do you want to spend ours?

No, so here's where I join the right in the US and agree that Biden is obligated to Zelensky's government as they probably have dirt on Hunter Biden who we know did business deals with the Ukrainians.
If trump comes back and tears up these agreements and let's Russia sort this out with Ukraine without getting the rest of the world involved then If I was American I would vote for Trump. That's how strongly I am against this corrupt dealing with Ukraine. Yes, Biden crossed the line on this one. The Australian government has also cheated the Australian people by claiming to representing their interests, both labour and liberal.

I'll answer that.
Yes.
I understand your POV, but for various reasons, I don't want Ukraine to be assimilated by The Borg Russia.
Glory to the Democrats in the next Presidential election.

Well, corruption is part and parcel of politics on either side of the divide.
What can you do? <shrug>
The Borg invaded a sovereign nation.
I have a problem with that.
Your progressiveness has been forever tainted.
I'd bet your left testicle that most Australians support Ukraine.
Majority rulz is our voting system, the last time I checked.
We also have alliance obligations to consider.
If we ever need help due to a jingoistic CCP, our good deeds now would probably pay dividends then.
Well, I certainly hope so.
)
So America is the biggest "borg". They have spread global capitalism so that even Eskimos are buying ice from them.
China is the next borg.
Russia is still catching up to those two

Thanks for that, seriously.
I knew Pepe didn't care if We The People survived, or not. As long as He The Skunk got his way. I mean, who cares if a whole other country fails on the other side of his world, right?

I'll be frank. America and NATO countries dragged the world into conflict in the past in
Afghanistan
Iraq
We now know these were both "manufactured consent" and that after trillions were wasted all that happened was
Afghanistan - run by Taliban
Iraq - run by ISIS
The billions we are pumping into Ukraine will likely not yield any benefit and in addition to civilians (both Ukrainian and Russian) who suffer in the war, the common man in American and Australia will suffer cost of living that will blow beyond the capacity for a lot of people to live and make ends meet.
Its easy for politicians like Biden or Australian politicians like Dutton giving lip service to the war as they are financially insulated from the fall-out.
And yes, the skunk is driven by his parents virulent hatred of Russians so I wouldn't listen to him on this issue.

You do realise I have no influence on your country's policies, right?
I think you are taking my comment too seriously.
If the Biden administration loses significant approval because of its support of Ukraine, have no doubt the Democratic stance will change no matter how many guarantees to the contrary.
Talk to your Democratic representatives.
And what you seem to be engaging in is character assassination.
Plz stop.
"Glory to Ukraine".
The Albanese government is fully behind supporting Ukraine.
I think you missed this little fact.
"Confirmation Bias" strikes again, or so it seems.
My parent's position was based on actual experiences of communist abuse.
Ukraine is on the end of an obscene Russian invasion of a sovereign country, inflicting torture, rape, deportation, and murder.
I am "gobsmacked" that ANYONE can support the aggressor who engages in such activities.
You are a puzzle to me.
I think you missed this little fact.

:
Normally Dutton takes a contrarian view against Albanese but not on this. He hates communism so naturally he's anti-Russian.
Since when has Dutton cared about violations of human rights? only two times he's cried about human rights are for white south africans and Ukrainians.
But for me this has nothing to do with politics. It's about paying the price to fund a covert war against Putin.

Communism and anti-communism aren't relevant to this conflict, except for old anti-NATO types who used to be against imperialism until Russia was doing it.
It's largely the establishment-leaning types who support Ukraine whether they identify as conservative or liberal; it's largely the anti-liberal right and tankies who support Russia.
If well, the US also invaded a sovereign nation is the best argument they have to support Russia they have no argument at all; anything that tries to use a sphere of influence as an argument is just admitting to supporting imperialism.

I don't want for Ukraine to lose. But I cannot discount the effects felt by the everyday person just trying to survive and experiencing a difficult time doing so. This level of funding by the US is unsustainable. 30 + Million, Pshhhht. When you're on the hook for what is now roughly 115 Billion, come talk Pepe.
