she gave it her all. now she is in paradise, and if she reincarnates in a good long while, chances are her spirit will come back in even a more exalted moral state.

With Butler's appointment, California will have had four female U.S. senators, the most of any state (Feinstein, Boxer, Harris, Butler)

Also, Feinstein's record of longest-serving female senator is likely to be short-lived, as Patty Murray is expected to surpass that record, having taken office two months after Feinstein.

I've voted for Murray for as long as she's been my senator.

Also, if Laphonza Butler doesn't run next year, and Adam Schiff drops out, CA will likely have a 5th woman as senator, due to their top 2 primary system (Cali is so heavily Democratic that the GOP often doesn't bother to field a candidate).

The 5th woman would be Barbara Lee or Katie Porter.

She is the first black lesbian to serve in Congress.
