Not surprised, especially as I can't see a wide appeal for a Latino candidate with the current Trump GOP.

One must keep in mind, however, that many Cuban-Americans, including Francis Suarez, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, vote GOP.

That is true, though I think Cuban exiles have always stood in a different light from other Latinos in the minds of right wingers.
