He pretty much tells it like it is for the GOP. You can be a Republican or you can support Trump, but you cant do both because Trump opposes Republican values.

Case in point: Some years ago a group of GOPers on WP were wondering "why do Democrats hate Russia?". They had already forgotten who they were (members of the same party as Reagan and Mitt Romney) and are supposed to hate Russia themselves, and to hate the Dems because the Dems dont hate Russia enough! Thats how fast Trumpism replaced traditional GOPism among the grassroots. The new MAGA cult is pro Russia.

Probably because they are aware that Russia isn't a communist state anymore, but an authoritarian, capitalistic kleptocracy, very much in the mold of what they want to see America become under Trump.

It's a weird thing having Republicans be pro Russia, for sure.

Yes a choice to stand up about abortion rights instead of making this first world country a horror to give birth in. LIke 2023 and some women cannot get adequate care if it includes abortion because of a bunch of government men who don't even know how a usterus works get to decide for us.

Well, from my point of view (which is on the other side of some salty water), GOP does face a big choice:
Regardless of all the ideological and internal affairs' issues, conflicts and problems, some old-fashioned Republican like the Bushes would not be worse for us than the dems are. A Trump-like Russia-friendly isolationist would be a disaster.
And the choice between the former and the latter is to be made inside the GOP, outside of the actual elections.

Will the GOP go the way of Romney or Trump?

I would prefer the way of Nelson Rockefeller.
