Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth orders a halt to offensive cyber operations against Russia

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered U.S. Cyber Command to halt offensive cyber operations and information operations against Russia, a U.S. official familiar with the matter said.

Hegseth gave the order to the head of the command, Air Force Gen. Tim Haugh, in late February, the official said. It is unclear clear how long the order will last.

A senior U.S. defense official declined to comment on the decision "due to operational security concerns."

Trump gives a lot of orders that seem questionable to me. That makes me think: Is there any procedure in the US for how to handle if the President is clearly working against the country's interests?

Didn't they try that already? Two times, if I'm not mistaken in his first mandate? Then, convicted him of 34 felonies. Nothing works.

Yes, it is called impeachment. The House of Representatives impeaches(brings charges), and the Senate convicts. During Trump's first term, the House was controlled by Democrats, who impeached him twice, but the Senate controlled by Republicans, acquitted him both times. Now that both Houses of Congress are controlled by Republicans, forget about it.

I believe there's only one remaining constitutionally approved method for holding Trump accountable at this point and it's one many of his fans are fond of.

It is easy to find articles about Russian cyberattacks on the U.S., for instance:
=>"Russian Military Cyber Actors Target US and Global Critical Infrastructure"

So it is also easy to predict Congress' reaction to Trump halting cyber operations against Russia:
=>"Congress Freaks Out Over Trump Administration’s Decision to Halt Cyber Operations Against Russia"

And, unfortunately, given how much Trump seems to like Putin, this comment makes too much sense:
=>"Hillary Clinton Shreds Donald Trump Over Putin With Scathing One-Liner"

Sometimes in life there are no getting out of facing the consequences from bad decisions. What about the idea giving people chances to redeem themselves? America had many chances and blew them all. All living Americans have ever known is reaping the benefits from being the worlds leading military, economic and cultural power. It is going to be quite a shock for Americans to reap the consequences of being a pariah state. These consequences arguably might be mitigated over time if we finally wise up but there is no going back to the way it was. How many empires after falling have come back full stop?

I believe anyone who were to undertake that sort of action would recognize they're taking a radical interpretation and not one that's likely to survive legal scrutiny. That said, that interpretation is what the militia movement and similar always have in mind when they describe their reasoning for the second, but when it might be more justifiable than at any point within living memory, suddenly they're all quiet as hell—which seems to me like evidence they're not really as concerned about tyranny as they claim.

America has enough people with guns and who agree with the sentiment that the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants that a high enough level of outrage pretty much makes further attempts inevitable and only one of them needs to succeed.

Besides, Trump himself said it's okay. Remember: He who saves his Country does not violate any Law.

That goes on the assumption that the people in question feel what is going on is tyranny. They feel what is going on is “your retribution” or “owning the libs”. They will use their weapons not to resist Trump but on people resisting Trump.
