That's a new one to me, never before have i heard of a second grader being suspended. I wonder if the kid fully understands why he was suspended?

I wish I had his name and address, so I could send him a postcard saying "because people are idiots"...

I read the title of this wrong. 8O Drawing a gun has multiple meanings.

I drew guns all the time when I was in elementary school. Interpret that as you will. :wink:

It seems kind-of harsh but he did write the word "me" above the stick figure with a gun and another kids name over the other one that the gun was pointed at... I can see how they are trying to have him learn a lesson, but I mean the kid doesn't understand why its bad and he said it was a water gun... If I were the school I would just have the kid see the School Counseler to see if the kid really meant it.

Ever been to Texas? Maybe that's why we see that.

A tree? OMFG NO.. trees can be made into wood, and wood can be made into sticks, and you can put a nail in a stick and hit someone with it!! How did they miss that???

Cyclops? OH THE HUMANITY. They EAT people they do!! ! Thats promoting cannibalism that is.

Skateboarding??? But thats antisocial and dangerous and ruins public places and is a danger to passers-by!! !! !!

King TUT?????? Obviously this child is dangerous, as he's drawing ancient monarchs of past empires. Quite obviously he is planning to plant explosive devices throughout the school and thus bring about the rise of a new egyptian empire!! ! Break his fingers so he may no longer do such terrible things!! !!

Seriously though.. wtf??? Zero-tolerance of guns extends to a childs doodle? I take it they intend to go through all of their history books and black out every mention of a firearm, and cover over pictures of every marine, GI,cowboy, hunter etc etc.

And if they really think he intends violence towards another student, then they would be better served finding out WHY, and solving the issue right there and then.

There are words for these people, but I imagine the filters will simply **** them out, so just use your imagination (but dont think about guns, whatever you do.)

I thought that other suspention story was bad, but this is worst! A little talking to in a calm voice would have done the trick, explaining that it's not nice to draw people shooting others. People are so paranoid these days. -_-;

That is just really stupid.
Authorative paranoia seems to be on the increase these days but the "No Touching" rule some schools have takes a big piece of cake.
