Device warns you if you're boring or irritating

Forget the target audience is Autistics.I could use one of these....or maybe I'd rather not!
Any thoughts?

Other challenges include finding a high-resolution digital camera that can be worn comfortably, and training people with autism to look at the faces of those they are conversing with so that the camera picks up their expressions.

oops....

Well, I usually look slightly down and to the right. So just adjust the camera a little bit. Simple!

But I don't mind the new one. I want the one that apparently picks up the SIX BASIC EMOTIONS!! ! At least until the next model is ready.

No, I wouldn't want to use that. Sounds awkward. I figure if people keep putting up with me, I haven't ruined things yet. :)

Computers can't be used for EVERYTHING...can they?
I don't think I'd like that.

But what if the person you're talking to is also autistic and they don't express emotions in the expected way? Or what if they have ADHD and therefore act bored or distracted all the time? Or what if they're nt, but they're bored or confused for some random reason unrelated to the conversation?

I know somebody who can benefit from that. All that she really talks about, is herself. She goes to my clubhouse. I'm glad that she's dumping my best friend and I, in the new year.

 Ya, exactly! Good luck with getting that to happen! I hate making eye contact, because the "rules" of it elude me. So, if someone told me that I HAD TO make eye contact, I'd hate that. I'd rather the person just not be my friend.

Besides, Aspies would likely take offense at a computer telling them they're being boring, because that doesn't magically inform us as to HOW to be interesting! That's the whole problem, is that we lack Theory of Mind, so that we don't know what's not naturally interesting to someone else. I mean, if we're fascinated by something, we're not going to understand why someone else can't get excited about it, if we give them enough background information (which, in itself, bores them :? ).

So I guess the next iteration would be incorporating social networking so it can then point whoever's using it to someone in the room who would actually be interested in what they're talking about! It could just be that the person being talked to has the attention span of a flea...

I think it's not a bad idea, except that it would damage potential of learning to do it without a device. Sort of like how most people can't seem to do mental math because they have calculators.

That's actually sort of funny :) It's come to that, eh? Useful.

Sounds like a mood ring. At least a mood ring, while equally as useless, at least looks pretty.

I've seen that article before, and I think carrying the device around would be just as awkward :P
