When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Autism Speaks will NEVER speak for me

CLASSIC AUTISM

That is so sad :(

I cant help but read

"Leone said no drugs or alcohol were involved. "It is far too complicated, too complex to make any real determination about what the cause was, what was in her mind,""

and wonder if "no drugs" also involves psychiatric drugs (especially SSRI's) as it mentions she had been treated for "mental illness" and that is an all too common story.

It is sickening. However this sort of thing can happen with extreme version of depression/ bi-polar and other mental illness.

But not so hard to understand in context. Tragic. But so is most of the rest of the world, sometimes.

Omg... that's just so awful. I really hope the remaining family are ok... they'll be going through so much right now, my heart really goes out to them. I lost my best friend to a murder/suicide when I was a kid - her Dad killed himself, her and her two sisters - and I still remember the way my world was turned inside out upside down in the space of about half a second. It's hell. It's like all-encompassing blackness. I really hope the woman's sister and children are ok. So, so tragic...

Oh... wow.

If you don't mind me asking, how old were they?

If you don't want to answer, I understand.

It's ok. My best mate and I were 7 at the time, and her sisters were about 4 and 18mths. Not sure on the Dad, assume he was in his early to mid-30s... the way I remember him he always looked pretty young. It's strange though, he was always so lovely and so good to all of us. But then later (years later I mean) I heard he'd been one of those nasty, abusive husbands. They'd gone through a really messy divorce, and I guess one day he just flipped and lost the plot, so to speak.
Their mother is absolutely lovely... really amazing how she's rebuilt her life after such a massive loss.
