Q&A with Tricia Regan director of 'Autism: The Musical' (The Desert Sun)

In anticipation of today's screening of "Autism: The Musical," The Desert Sun spoke with the film's director, Tricia Regan, and producer Sasha Alpert.

The Desert Sun: How did you each become involved with this film?

TRICIA REGAN: At first I was just giving advice. There was a group of people in L.A. - one of whom I knew, the executive producer - who wanted to make a film about autistic kids. But also, they wanted to reach out beyond the autistic community to show how these kids deserved resources and such. My suggestion was to NOT make a film about autism, but instead to make it about the kids, where autism is their obstacle, what's standing in the way of their success.

Hmm making a presumably happy musical about Autism, yet only referring to Autism as an obsticle not a way of being? I wonder when CAN will pick this up as a part of their propaganda regimen.

Cure Autism Now. It's another non-profit organization similar to Autism Speaks.
