He isn't a freak. I dislike that anyone would think that.

that manager sounds like an idiot. he should be fired.

The Apple stores are rip offs. Genius bar indeed.

But did you read the whole thing? His e-mail to Steve Jobs was actually read. They arranged to fix the laptop and to let him into the store before it opened.

The "It was a misunderstanding" comment sounds like an attempt to dismiss a disabled person, if the caller mentioned his AS during his complaint call, which it sounds like he would have, given that he voluntarily told the store manager about it.

Most companies look for excuses not to help you. Therefore, try not to give them any. Cruel as it is, in this case, the store manager heard the Aspie say he has a mental disability, and thought, "Ah ha -- this is my escape. I can just snub this guy away, and he won't have the mental resources to get me in trouble for it..." The manager and those like him should beware that not people with disabilities are disabled in the same ways! Indeed, no Aspie is alike, and he wouldn't want to try pulling this on me!

Better to be a freak than a f*cking NT.

mm I've always been an apple user, but I think that may be coming to an end. My latest was an ibook, and gee it was cheap rubbish, the letters on the keys started coming off after about two months. It didn't even have the full software loaded on it (it was new) so I had to take it to the shop for them to reload the software. After two years it looks in horrible condition. They just don't make quality stuff anymore.

I'm using a second had PC at the moment since a thunderstorm took out the modem in the ibook. I really don't feel that motivated to get the ibook fixed, I wasn't happy with it anyway.

Back in my hippie days, we called people like us, freaks. If you were a freak, you belonged to our tribe.

It is a shame when people who are suppose to be professional result to

unprofessional behavior.

Reading the line above, this aspie made the #1 mistake that so many aspies make.

Don't bring up your AS if it isn't truly relevant or important and NEVER EVER imply that you are making excuses for your own behavior.

It was still in poor taste for the Mac Guy to respond the way he did. But hopefully, the events that transpired will serve as a lesson for both parties.

Has anyone has seen the new wafer thin laptops?

I love macs and their products (they're the best laptops I've ever owned), but dealing with their customer support can be a real pain.

I had to ship my laptop to them a couple of times and they couldn't fix the problem, they said I needed to replace the logic board ($800) and finally I got so sick of it that I just took it apart myself and fixed it in about an hour for a lot less money than that.

So I still recommend their computers but with the asterisk that their support is kind of hit or miss.

I hope someone got fired over that!
