DE KALB, Ill. -- A shooting at Northern Illinois University today has reportedly left several people wounded -- according to an eye witness a man with a shotgun began firing during a lecture at Cole Hall on the NIU's De Kalb Campus.

Authorities confirm at least 3 people have been shot. According to the Kishwaukee Community Hospital website up to 15 victims are expected at the hospital an 3 or 4 of those victims have suffered head wounds.

A witness told WBBM a young man pulled out a shotgun and began firing inside a lecture hall. The shooting apparently took place during a science at Cole hall on the University's De Kalb campus.

"The shooter came from an emergency exit -- shotgun in hand -- and began shooting toward the middle of the lecture hall.," the witness said. The shooter then began firing at the professor, according to the witness.

Unconfirmed reports indicate a gunman may have been taken into custody.

So that's why home schooling is so popular in the US.

Reasons for me to become homeschooled in the last year

1. degenerative disease becoming severe
2. medical conditions causing uncontrollable seizures
3. students at the high school heavily bullying me and some even made threats

I'm homeschooled too. Parents tried to put me in public school for high school because I had become lazy in my studies, but I couldn't take all the sensory overload, swearing, gossiping, kids bringing knives to school, bullying, and whatnot. Parents claimed nothing was wrong and that I imagined everything, so they put me in a mental hospital for a couple of weeks. After that I worked a lot harder on my studies so I wouldn't be put back again. I have since taken the GED and got scores around 94th percentile, which is the same for my IQ by coincidence.

He had desisted in taking his medication. This scares the piss out of me. I'm not on anything right now, but I am scheduled to see a psychiatrist about perhaps having something done about some of my impulsivity problems. Right now, I'm really tempted as hell to just outright cancel the appointment and go hide in my closet. I'm actually thinking right now that I probably should. This crap is scary. I don't think that I could ever trust a psychiatrist after reading this.

The problem was he got off his too and this is what caused his behavior! Once you're on them, you're suppose to be under a doctor's care and not go off whenever you feel the urge. You have to be weaned off of them and sometimes take something else to counter the side effects which, from what I've read, can have deleterious results.

You don't just stop taking medication that's been in your system for awhile. Weird things happen (from what I've read--no pesonal experience).

A shot seen in the light, heard in the dark... topic

Is this becoming more common? Are we going to have to cocoon ourselves just to stay safe? Is life becoming so frustrating that violence is the only way out/ News travels so fast, that we know of almost everything alsmost as it is happening. Sensory overload magnified. Even the NTs are feeling it.

And then all we can do is look behind us to pick up the pieces. Meanwhile people die from stupid acts of violence. These are the weapons of mass destruction, just not on a global scale. I am overwhelmed by all this hatred, all unnecessary, all a waste of life, talent. I wish I had the answer to this. I have been studying genocides, mass and serial murders and the perpetrators and bystanders for years, and I still have not found a solution. This is frustrating, when we cannot predict the behaviour of the disturbed, deranged, and diabolical defilers and destructors of life. :x

It has become unsafe to go anywhere, for you have people shooting up places. It really

makes me sick.It is also sad that people refuse to get help and turn to violence as an

answer for their problems.

No, the problem is that we're working with unsustainable, temporary solutions. They seem to be reasonably effective at times, but the whole thing just breaks down once the treatment is discontinued. We need more lasting results.
