The Vines book a few US gigs
The Vines emerged in 2002 and were at the forefront of the garage-rock movement with contemporaries including The Strokes, The Hives and The White Stripes. Following the Aussie band's gold-certified debut, "Highly Evolved," and its 2004 sophomore set, "Winning Days," frontman Craig Nicholls was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, an autism-like neurobiological disorder. The condition explained Nicholls' erratic behavior that rubbed his bandmates and fans the wrong way, and got him into legal trouble.
At that point, The Vines took a hiatus and returned in 2006 with "Vision Valley," though they announced they would not tour to support the album. However, the group did return to the live stage that year with a series of festival performances in Australia and the UK.
Now that Nicholls has received treatment and made some changes in his life, he's excited about supporting the new album.
