Dr. Novella, an academic clinical neurologist at Yale University School of Medicine made a great exploration on why the myth ‘Vaccines Cause Autism’ is still around and how it results in suffering and deaths of Autistic People.

What about the suffering and deaths of people - autistic or not - that results from vaccines? And no, I'm not making any reference to them causing or not causing autism, or to mercury on its own.

One question I have asked several times in discussions with parents who believe in the theory is this: how many spectrum children get tested for mercury poisoning and come out with a NEGATIVE result? Have ANY of these parents heard of a SINGLE case? No one ever answers me. I don't think they want to think about what that would mean.

What about those who ARE damaged by vaccines? Autistic or not? Do they not count in all this?

The myth still goes on because of

1. Quacks who make money off the myth

2. Conspiracy nuts who think the scientific evidence that says there is no link is itself evidence of the conspiracy.

3. Idiots who fall for 1 and 2.

^^^ Well said. It annoys me to no end that there are all these parents who are upset and want to blame somebody or something, rather than accepting their child as being on the spectrum. If we didn't have immunizations, millions more people would die yearly from a large number of diseases.

that's what I thought.
It's mostly parents who refuse to believe that they had anything to do with their child being on the spectrum at all.

3) People want to believe, seriously believe, that there's a simple, straightforward answer to anything.

The idea that a scientist can say "I don't know" to any situation scares most normal folks, despite answering "I don't know" is what science is all about.

I think the article mentions a few cases where positive results were forged.

Feel free to give numbers for this, and compare to the alternative of leaving the population susceptible to easily preventible diseases.

Can you give me the numbers on how vaccines do any good? If you're going to have me using them, then the onus is on you to sell them and give me the facts. If you can't do that, then why should I take the snake oil? And who said anything about leaving the population susceptible to anything - how about teaching them how to take care of themselves and build a decent immune system through nutrition and good health and cutting out the nutrition-void artificial crap most people live on?
