Here’s a perfect example of what is wrong with the news media. Until about thirty years ago it was that reporters would dig into the FACTS, and DETAILS and report them. Now all we hear about is a whole lot of crying, scandal and gossip and no facts as to why or how. Gone are the days of Woodward and Bernstein. With each passing year I see the world looking more and more like the movie Idiocracy. The following story reports about “ethics violations”, “influence of outside individuals on board decisions” and “other requirements for accreditation”. What the HELL does THAT mean? It's like a hamburger but all you see is the bun. Read for yourself and see if you can find the "beef" anywhere.

The answer is in black and white, in this sentence:

The newspaper is playing a game of 'let's incite a race war', and they know you can't form an opinion without this crucial bit of information.

Trivial details like the nature of the allegations or any pertinent facts will only cloud the issue, so these were left out.

The problem is that journalists don't have time to check the facts anymore, since the news has become so much more consumer-based than it used to be. Now it's quantity over quality, amd every network has to be the first to present an issue, regardless of whether they know what they're talking about. That's not just what's wrong with the news, this is an issue that effects all media.

The actual main problem is that news in America are more interested in being competative (read: profitable). Especially in local tv news where half of the stories featured are either crime or news outside the local viewing area.

umm.. no that is not the case at all.. journalists have deadlines, but when you research something the whole point is to get facts!.. they HAVE the facts, but they are generalised, and distorted by lawyers at the top of the networks.. dont buy into that 'they are presured for time' myth.. there are enough reporters in a station to do each story properly, but they dont, because the media stations are all owned by the same mafia government hijackers..

there is no competition so you'll have to stop believing that myth aswell.. how could there be competition when all of the media news stations are owned by the same man?.. they play cat and mouse with their audience to make them think there is competition, time pressures and all of this fakeness...

Rupert Murdoch's Newscorp only owns FOX stations. Disney owns ABC, Warner-Times owns CNN and GE owns NBC. Those are the four big competitors.

Reuters and Associated Press are the two largest reporting agencies, with BBC and Al-Jazeera being two other large reporting agencies.
