Why is the Japanese government insuting everybody?

Taro Aso (the prime minister of Japan) and many of the Japanese government cabinet members have insulted nearly everyone - women, doctors, the elderly, the city of Osaka, foreigners and the US.

BBC News: Gaffes put Japan's Aso under fire

Women are "birth-giving machines", the US is full of "gangsters", the Elderly are "feeble", and Osaka is a "spittoon". Aso's tourism minister, Nariaki Nakayama, resigned after calling Japan an "ethnically homogeneous" nation that didn't like foreigners!

Aso's gaffs are so frequent that people have lost count, despite the fact that bureaucrats have tried to make him speak from cue cards.

So, anyone got an idea why they are so stupid, why are they insulting everyone?

I predict an early resignation from the Prime Ministership, just like ALMOST EVERY JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER IN THE HISTORY OF JAPAN.

I'll be surprised if the Japanese media is reporting this.

Indeed they are. That is a constant which spans time as well as geography. Some things are always going to be there. THe grass will always look greener on the other side of the fence; people will always be coveting each other's possessions and wives. People will always want more money, more possessions, more sex, etc. than they currenly have.

And it always seemed like a good idea at the time ...

Sadly, this is essentially the truth. Since the time that Korea was a Japanese protectorate, there has been an ethnic Korean community living in Japan, who the government, and Japanese society as a whole do not recognise as being Japanese citizens, but rather instead resident aliens, even though the ethnic Koreans have been living there for several generations.
