What is it with some people who think that anything goes when it comes to getting money to spend, even if the money has to be stolen? Why does American culture value spending over saving and investing? This is the reason why America is broke, every time somebody gets a little money they go out and blow it. Lottery winners spend like crazy, go broke, then end up having to sell the junk they acquired and go back to being a nobody. Why do people think that being rich is a function of how much useless Chinese junk you have instead of how much you have invested? The rich are in debt to the tune of $400 BILLION according to one author. That's why they refuse to raise wages, they need all the money they can get to spend it.

Authorities said it was unclear why the grandfather kept so much money — between $230,000 and $250,000 in $100 bills — at home.

This is the most interesting part of the story. Did the grandfather not trust banks? Was he harboring ill-gotten cash?

its a perfect picture of the worlds materialism we are being punished for it in this economic crisis but tough times have taught me how to save money. i bought 5 pairs of pants only bc i really needed them 4 school. im buying stuff i need not going on shopping sprees with money i shouldnt be spending to begin with regardless of whether or not it is mine
