I don't like these people either, they like to say "we are Christians and we are doing the work of god" but the truth is they just pretend to be Christians they know nothing of Christ or his father. But the good news is since they sowed bad seeds they will reap equally bad crops if you get what I mean

They aren't Christians at all. Even extreme fundamentalists dislike them. They spawned from Christianity, but in reality they are a sick, evil, malicious, cult.

That pretty much sums it up except they didn't spawn from Christianity they spawned from hatred, they just use Christianity as their shield. Radical Islamic terrorist are the same way they don't care about what their Religion is about all they care about is spreading hatred while using Islam as a shield.

Pretty much I guess. Everyone loves to have an excuse.

Luckily unlike the US Britain, Australia, and NewZealand do not have unlimited freedom of speech. These a***holes are planning to picket the National Day of Mourning service for the bush fire victims here in Aus,, (because of course the deaths are a result of Australians embracing homosexuality and therefore gods wrath  ) I suspect like in the UK they will be prevented entry. If they do stand outside the service with their placards I doubt they will return to the US uninjured.

Well, I think limiting this sort of "free speech" or at least what they do, is rather a good idea.

I couldn't agree more. I have been having a debate in PPR on this very issue.

They are not citizens, so they don't have a the same rights as citizens. So we can block visas/ban their entry. But when we do grant entry other countries want to extradite them due to real contraventions in freedom of speech laws. Yet when we deport them to their original country people complain. Despite the complainants sometimes coming from counties that have the same hypocrite laws or being firm alleys with one.

It is bit harder to do that with citizens. You can't arrest them for simply for picketing (there are picketing laws due to Thatcher but this are more to do with how many can congregate directly outside a private property, the rest will be near by). They have to say something that could cause a security problem.

Then tell me what the fundamental distinction is between this speech and other types of speech.

Their speech is evil and incites hatred. It's violent. And ti isn't just speech, it's actions too. And making children their mouthpiece for their hatred.

Who decides what speech is "evil?" What if I think people advocating political views I disagree with are evil? Can I censor them?

How is it violent? It's obnoxious, not violent. Actions? Well, the picketing, again, is obnoxious. But you have to take the good with the bad when it comes to freedom of speech.

One thing I hate about living in the midwest is having people like this around...as if we're all christian or even have religious beliefs.

The only good thing about this is, at least he makes himself obvious rather than preaching "Jesus loves you." Most people here con you into believing that and then you go to their church and you hear hints and incitements of hatred toward people who are homosexual or don't follow their religion.

I wonder why he's so obsessed with homosexualty which is only one of many sins in the bible.....

Hmmm....makes me almost wonder.....:?

Not all Christians- not even most Christians- are like that, even in the Midwest.

My church is not like that at all.

Fred Phelps is getting on in years. Maybe we should picket his funeral.
