First of all, I thought everyone knew about the Nigerian scam by now. But for a gov't official to be involved is ludicrous. It is funny. Esp. in a "clean, squeaky" state like Utah. People have to be greedy and have semi-shady ethics for fall for the scam anyway.

Way out of Africa topic

Sounds like the Nigerian scammers are getting smarter at bilking funds on the World Wide Web, now that people will not readily hand over money for a goodwill deposit via email.

Live and learn.

Title is misleading. If you read the article, it wasn't that one of the state workers got an email "My name is Nathaniel Mbogo and I need help transferring 2 billion US dollars, for your assistance you will recieve hefty compensation".

What they did is start sending the State bills from a re-routed university department, and the state paid those bills. They don't even know for sure that the money ended up in Nigeria. The last path of the money ended up in a bank account in Texas. I swear people don't read the articles before they post.
