Good morning, America - how are you?

Happy first day of daylight savings.

Are we in synch with the rest of the world yet? I seem to remember last time - everyone's calendars blew up. I guess I'll wait and see.

All I know is I have a birthday party to attend at 1 pm - which is already too early. Now its at noon.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done...

I hate it when the clocks change, why can we not just keep the same time zone all year.

The changeover is at 2:00 Standard Time in the wee hours of a Sunday morning.

No, we are not, nor will we ever be in sync with the world until they match our time, or we match theirs. Expect a lot of international grumbling over the next week or two.

WP can't handle the time change. While it may be correct for America, my posts (and everyone else's) appear one hour in the future. Looks like there are bugs in WP's time zone calculations. Someone else has made the same comment in Australia.

I am posting this article at precisely 5:00 pm here in France but it will show on the forum as being posted at 6:00 here in France.

Grumble, grumble.

Canadian politicians have slavishly gone along with the American time switch (we really don't have any choice, do we?) but it's very stressful having the time change happen when it does here, this far north, where the length of day varies more. It's usually worse in the fall. It would really be easiest to switch as close as possible to the equinox, since the length of day changes so fast at that time regardless.

I don't think it saves energy, though it does make it easier to sleep in in the morning when the sun comes up at 4:30 rather than 3:30 at midsummer. So I am in favour of DST. Just not when the switch happens.

Last time it blew up everyone's Microsoft Outlook - especially those working with countries around the world. I don't fault WP. It's probably their software.

I don't have a thing against the time change, per se. Although, I don't like the change in Spring until I get used to it. Fall's a piece of cake.

But the fact that we decided to break with the rest of the world was weird. Maybe Obama can change it back.

Also - what's up with Indiana? Are you guys in synch with the rest of the US yet? I think AZ finally got on board.

It seems that everyone not in America is now showing the wrong time against all posts. They are all showing an hour in the future of when they really were posted. I raised this problem and Lau gives a definitive solution:

http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt93255.html

Basically none-Americans need to set the time zone in their profile to the incorrect time zone to show the right time :?. i.e. one hour earlier than your real time zone. Then when your local daylight saving time takes effect (e.g. in England and France this is on 29th March) set your time zone profile back to the correct zone.

This is clearly a bug in the software used by WP. I don't know if it will ever get fixed, or if people are stuck with either the wrong time or messing with their profiles.

Personally I find it a pain in the rear because I tend to look on the forum index to see if there are any new posts to read in each forum. My brain hurts when all the times are in the future. :?

Only in America, but it has wrecked all the times showing against posts for everyone else on the planet.
