I am not looking forward to Windows coming out myself, if it is even 1/10 a disaster Vista was I will either commit murder or suicide because people beg my dad and I to fix their computers when Microsoft fails to make their OSS work properly.

More windows bloatware, shareware, spyware, bs, which makes even 5 year old applications/games lag like a horrendously large carne asada burrito through your digestive tract.

don't know if they'll get a way with it this time (thanks to Netbooks, and linux in general), but usually once the 'release' date of an Operating System happens, most hardware vendors are 'forced' to switch to the new Operating System. So you wind up having to take it 'or else'...

I'm not sure if the netbook argument holds strong here, because Windows 7 has them in mind during its development, and its easy to see that if you look at reviews of the beta. The only netbooks I can think of that might not run well with it would be the original celeron-based eee-pcs.

well, I've been seeing the procedure going on at least since Windows 95 (also known as 'Winever'...;)

I've never known MS to back off of a revenue stream...;)

The game software package said, "Requires Windows 95 or Better."

So I installed Linux.

Ironically, Windows software that old is likely to run well with WINE on Linux. Likely faster then something like Vista . . .

Some people on the net has written about Windows 7 and although people have had different opinions about their beta release, some say it's an upgrade of Windows Vista.

I don't care much about either Vista or Windows 7. It's just the same story over and over again.

I have XP installed on one of my computers and it works pretty good, but sometimes programs and games starts to malfunction so... once I get a new harddirve in the future I will do a new install of Windows XP. At least it's use'able for watching movies since that's the thing it's primarily used for.

For the past few years Linux has always worked better for me than any version of Windows, although.. Linux requires much work in the beginning once the system is installed and configured.

Problems which can occur with a Linux system has almost always been problems which I have been able to fix unlike Windows where serious problems in the Windows registry can really make one get a headache, pretty fast. :-( Over the years I have gotten better and Windows registry fix programs has made things easier, though.

Unless they implement some decent security, cut down on the bloat in a big way, top my Compiz eye-candy, and bring the price down by quite a bit, there is basically no chance in hell of me using Win7. I tried the beta in VirtualBox and was not impressed. Just looks like Vista's ugly stepsister.
