Postal rates went up on 1/8 in US

I didn't know the postal rates were going up on 1/8. Do I totally have my head buried in the sand, or is this news to anybody else? Shouldn't they advertise this kind of thing in advance so your mortgage check isn't late (as mine will be - argh)
