I don't intend to get addicted as such but I'll probably have one or two to see what they're like, I don't really see what the point is in not. My Dad's been offered really posh cigars(not all in one go, over several years) and he's turned them down, and imo it's just being awkward not accepting them when it's not like you're going to get hooked with one :/. So I'd probably have a couple through out my life but I don't intend to buy packets :P.

You'd be surprised how easy it can be to get hooked, intent to or not. Everyone's system reacts differently to it, and you won't know just how easily you can get addicted until you are.

If I feel like I *need* a cigarette then I'll obviously just not take one. I have reasonably good will power.

Smoking in my opinion is absolutely vulgar and I can't help but think a lot less of people when they smoke, even if they are good friends.

I tried it once last year out of curiousity. It was disgusting. I don't see the appeal.

I'm never going to try one. I find it far too easy to become addicted to things to risk it.
Hell, I can't even cope without at least one can of cola a day (although I am trying to cut down).

I personally hate it, and see it as some kind of legal drug.

This calms me down, and is good for my teeth too.

I've heard that before.

It's your life, but understand the risk. It is more real than you are willing to give credit for.

My opinion on it has lightened a bit through the years, I used to hate it and hope it was illegal. Now I beleive that you should beable to smoke whatever you want, because it's your body. And you can do what you want with it. I don't smoke personally. Probably never will, I probably wouldn't mind trying drugs if I knew I was going to die soon, but It'd be something a heck of alot more interesting then tobacco :P.

I've smoked a few times, but only at parties when I'm already drinking/whatever. I definitely won't let it become a daily habit.

I just don't know why anyone would want to kill themselves slowly over many years just for some kind of pleasure that I will never understand. Okay, smoking isn't the ONLY cause of lung cancer, however there is a lot of evidence that proves that a large amount of smokers may develop the illness. Not to mention the constant chest infections and complications such as pneumonia. I'm sorry but if anyone thinks that inhaling crap from a little stick then coughing half the contents of their lungs up is cool, they need a reality check. Smokers need to keep away from non-smokers because having to breath in smoke because of THEIR dirty habit is disgusting. Plus I have had relatives die from lung disease. (emphezema is another one linked with smoking). Coming off ciggaretts is good because not only do YOU become healthy, your bank balance will look healthier too!

My straightedge-ness extends to smoking. They are, afterall, a drug. The only mind altering drugs I'll take are either medical (and those are side effects of them doing their primary purpose) or caffiene in small amounts (tea, coke etc).

I don't understand why people even do it. It seems useless. What, you're supposed to rebel against authority by physically declaring you want to die young?! That's insane!! I love my life too much to want to engage in such activity. Plus, it does stink! :eew: IMO peoples' farts smell better than smoking cigarettes. THAT is how much I can't stand the smell!! :x BTW, hope the previous statement didn't offend those who do smoke, I've been around smokers before, I just try to sit like, maybe, one foot away from them when I talk to them so I don't feel like coughing and holding my nose every second I'm around them.

I never really understood why people assume that people who smoke feel like they have some kind of dominace over other people, you know? They like turn it into such a big thing when oftentimes people who smoke do it because it's enjoyable.

Honestly I rarely smoke maybe like once every few months or so but when I do it's a very relaxing and stress relieving experience.

All in all, I believe that as long as you aren't harming another being, do what you will!
