Hey everyone, I'm new here and I thought maybe I should introduce myself before I post any.

I don't know exactly what to say.. I just turned 17 recently. I don't have a formal diagnosis on my aspergers yet so i've just been sort of lurking around.. It's kind of encouraging to see how much I have in common with everyone here though.. I'm like "Yes, that's me!"

Anyways.. for anyone who cares, my main obsession is horses.. i love talking about them, riding them, being with them, reading about them, etc.. so anyone else that likes them too Its about the only thing i can ever keep a conversation going about..

I also had a question..
Being a person that really, really needs to know what im getting into before I do something..what's going to happen, what's going to be expected of me, etc.. I was wondering what goes on when you get 'tested' or whatever you'd say..for aspergers..
anything you have to tell me about it would be great..

Anyways.. Hey everyone!!

1. Greetings technically go in the "Getting to know you" forum.
2. DSM criteria are implimented when being tested. If someone tries anything different, they are probably either an expert or wrong. Good money is on the latter.
3. To answer your next question, this is the best site I've found for DSM criteria. I've diagnosed 3 people off of it:
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Troy/1807/criteria.html
4. (A much belated) Welcome.

Oh, I'm sorry, I've seen people introduce themselves here so I thought it was okay. Sorry though..
Thanks for the info.

I'm not offically diagonsised either. In fact, I was surprised at how many people weren't.

Another horse lover. :D My obbession with the fine animals ended about a year ago, but I still ride and talk about them frequently. Do you ride? (And if so, what type?)

I can't answer your question, as I've never been diagnosied either (my mother asked what the point was if it couldn't really be cured, and I didn't have an answer). However, the DSM criteria subatai_baadur posted does help.

(I've also seen other people post introduction threads in here. We all make mistakes.) But once again, welcome.

Hey,
I have two horses (a paint and a quarter), they are everything to me! I can't imagine my obsession ending :P I do ride them both and I'm trying to get into showing a little bit. I ride mostly english. I do eventing (hence my name), some showjumping, and one of my horses does the occasional barrel race.
Nice to meet another horse lover!! !

Out of curiosity, how long have you been obsessed with horses? My obsession is dogs, and I've been obsessed with them all my life, with no signs yet of slowing down. Most Aspies seem to change their obsessions over time, and I'm wondering whether or not animal obsessions might be a little different in that regard.

I first got into them about five years ago (I guess I was about 11) when I had started homeschooling and my mom wanted me to have an extra activity. I had always been slightly interested in them, but had no clue. I chose horsebackriding lessons (and six months later bought my first horse) and since have become even more in love with and obsessed with them. Since I have no friends they are everything to me. They teach me so much and I tell them everything. I plan to be a professional rider/trainer so I can't imagine this particular obsession ever changing! My other secondary obsessions change quite often from monthly to weekly..

I bet they didnt use the criteria on me since whe i look back on it they got everything wrong!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !!

And all of my docotors and my parents views were bias and full of utter crap s**t lies. So next time i wont leave my parents sight, they wont be able to lie again!

MUAHAHAHAHA

And i'd advise they you dont let your parents have a private setting with the doctor, i learned the hard way.
