I have. When I was a kid, I didn't even care that I acted weird, but now I almost always try to fit in.

My social skills are worse  I met completely new people at college and it all just spiralled downhill. I need to fix that. Anyways I have improved my maturity; I got into trouble all the time at school, now I am as good as can be :D Realising who I am really has made me change. Or who knows that could be the puberty. :?

I don't consider 'trying to fit in' an improvement.

If you act as weird as I used to, life will be hard.

...when your school is filled with immature idiots, you really don't want to "fit in" with them.

To quote one of the educational psychologists I see regularly: "You should be extremely proud of where you are today James, after reading the reports from Sarah (The OT I used to see) I would not expect to see who I see standing in front of me now".

In some ways, yes, but in most ways I have gotten worse. :(

In some ways. I have much better social skills now, yet it's harder to make friends. I've more or less lost my ability to be myself. And I've developed a couple anxiety disorders. But if you just look at my social skills, I've made a ton of improvement.

I have became more eccentric as I have matured, but my sociability has bettered.

I have definitely gained a lot of social skills. Luckily for me I hang around with kids who are pretty easy going.

I also didn't really care how I act. Nowadays I find a balance between not caring and socializing just enough to keep people talking to me.

In other words, you went from confident in yourself to insecure, denying your own identity in the process.

If that's what you consider an improvement, then no, I've gotten worse. Way worse. :D Yay, backsliding is FUN!!

If, however, I can define "improvements" myself, then yeah, I've made huge improvements.

I've sort of learnt what type of people to be friends with and am slightly better when talking in regular conversation.

That's about it.

That doesn't sound like improvement to me.

When I was a kid I kept trying to fit in, but now I'm weird because I just act like myself. I count that as improvement.
