*being in the dark inside a house

When the lights are off and I'm all alone, walking around the house, I always feel like something is going to come out of the darkness and get me. 8O

I think a lot of people don't understand the clinical term of the word "phobia" though.

Yes! And if anyone dares to pop out and scare me, since I am so freaked out....I usually hit them. (Normally in the form of a sibling jumping out and scaring me as they come home).

Do you ever carry around a bat safety?

For me it's mostly an irrational fear, since I feel like some monster is going to get me, and of course they don't exist. :P But for some reason I do it anyways.

No, I just shuffle quickly to my room and close the door.

Haha, mine is partially irrational. Not monsters, but I always feel like there is someone out to get me...like a murderer or something. Not likely to happen, but possible, so my mind still worries.

Yea, I know the feeling...Especially when it is 3 in the morning, and I am going from the bathroom from my room. I try to shut it as fast as I can just in case someone tries to jump in or something. Did you ever (or still do) close the door with the light off and time it exactly so you shut off the lights and jump underneath the covers?

Yeah, murderer's, that's what I meant to say. :P

When I used to live at my dad's old house, which was quite large and two floors, when I was going to bed and my dad was already asleep I would turn lights on ahead of me, then turn them off once I got closer to my room, so I was never in the dark. I still do things like that; I turning off the light in my bedroom is the last thing I do, then hurry to my bed.

Haha, what's that supposed to mean? jk
You wanna know what's weird, I never really had a fear of monsters as a kid, I got scared of aliens, and murderers and crickets that jumped on my face in the middle of the night...but not monsters, haha. (thankfully the first and last are gone now).

Mine is 2 stories right now. I actually have a system if I'm the last up. Kitchen light the only one on? Turn on hall, turn off kitchen, turn on main light, turn off hall, turn on upstairs hall, turn off main, then leave the hall light on. So I know how you feel on that.

I don't jump into my bed anymore though, I try to be so tired that I just fall asleep to the tv or a book in the dark or something.

Random: Have you ever gone in the middle of the night and listened to/heard the noises? It is the freakiest thing ever!

Not supposed to mean anything, I just couldn't think of a word to use, so chose "monsters". :P I was never scared of monsters either. The only thing I ever got scared of was dead people at the foot of my bed, because of watching Sixth Sense when I was in elementary school. For at least a year I slept with my knees up in the air so I couldn't see the end of my bed.

Yep, that's exactly what I did with the lights, and still do sometimes.

No, not really. I usually sleep with a noise maker on so I don't hear anything that would keep me awake.

Some of my fears are,
~ That the building that I am in is going to fall down wile I'm in it. (Usually happens in the high school)
~ Splatting the first note of a solo. (This happens no matter how many times that I have practiced)
~ Coming in early/late during the middle/beginning of a performance.

I had a weird thing with mittins too and I hate velvet so much! I didn't think anyone else was like that. :)

I used to be afraid of storms to the point of almost blacking out 8O

Now it is speaking in front of a group of unfamiliar people.

I used to be afraid of a lot of little things too! Spiders included, now I realize that I am 5'10" and they are 1cm long lol. I try to compare things to make myself feel better.

Wasps, bees and other stinging bugs.

Getting hit by the ball in any sport, which is annoying in gym class.

I dislike toilets....they're so loud and I worry about them overflowing. I've had this fear since I was kid.

Bugs. Mainly the ones with too many legs.

Talking to strangers. Avoided at all costs.

Certain rides in amusement parks?

Er, on a more serious note. Snakes (mostly poisonous ones), spiders, falling off a cliff while hiking, slight height phobia... I'm afraid of Barbecue Chicken Hot Pockets, too. I won't eat one.
