Unfortunately - it is permanent.
If you want to go the whole "cure route," you will spend your life living on nutritional supplements, staying away from gluten-soy-milk products (if you do not already), minimizing/eliminating the use of technology to avoid emf radiation, as well as spending countless hours in speech therapy - social groups, and doing everything conceivably possible to correct what society says is "wrong with you". Do all that, perhaps you will change enough...

There is nothing wrong with being autistic. If you think "stopping" will make your life better, it won't. Neurotypicals have their own problems.

The above post pretty much sums up what your life would be like if you tried to "cure" yourself. (Not that it could be cured in the first place.)

Being autistic isn't the end of the world. There are much worse things out there.

You can be better at socializing and such so it can be easier. You can't become NT.

I know how awful it is, I've been there. It would help if you try and explain what it is that you hate as weird as it might sound- and this is only my experience- but most people when they hate who they can't help being it is low self-esteem and lack of confidence. You can't change that part of who you are so all you can do is try to accept it.

I understand how hard it is to be an autistic adolescent but resenting your autism and desperately wishing to be someone else is no way to live. What exactly do you hate about being autistic? Are you bullied and/or excluded? If so, then it may be society's reaction to your autism that you hate.

Autism is a part of you and it's difficult, but you have to learn to accept it and if others can't, it's their problem. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk more about it. :)

There's not really much you or any of us can do about this :/
Have to confess that I go to ridiculous lengths to hide my aspieness (yes...that is a word now) though

I agree with what was said before you can not cure autism but it can be reduced.

Yes and No.

You can never be "cured" but you can do a lot to overcome your disability.

I don't understand why anyone would want to.

I think that the problem is that people don't seem to realize how prominent a part of their personality Autism is. They see only the disabling aspects and don't realize that Autism makes them who they are. Those who do and loathe themselves because of their limitations need to stop because, one's limitations aren't one's own fault, and loathing yourself over something you have no control over is pointless.

thats like me saying that i wish i wasnt female. i hate getting my period, shaving and wearing all those fun slightly pinchy undergarments, but i cant wait to have kids. plus being female probably saved me from being a total social outcast.

No, as many people have said here it can't be cured. I have heard there are ways of improving your social skills though, yet I have had no experience in these. Maybe you could look into this?

I know it is hard as an adolescent to have Autism/Asperger's. Only two years ago I was in the same situation as you. I was desperate for a cure for Autism. Over these two years I guess I've came to accept myself. You might come to accept yourself the same way I did. It may sound impossible right now but trust me it is. Then you may be glad you never took a cure (which will never exist in the first place anyway.)

Good luck!

Like everyone above said, there is no cure for Autism. However, there are ways to get around it, and even appear neurotypical. The easiest way to start is by observation. What are the rest of the people doing after school, wearing, talking about, watching on television, et cetera? Then, once you know, you can imitate what everyone else is doing, and become "normal". I have one friend who did this who is AS, if you didn't know you couldn't tell she's not neurotypical now. I tried briefly, and found that I wasn't happy being normal. You can try, but I've found that I'm happier being my own unique person.
