bullsh!t.

Everyone can describe a time in their life "As a child"
Most people don't have a time when they are suddenly an adult, it is a transition.

But it's like a year age range, when you are trying to be an adult to *basically* an adult.

To be an adult just means you are okay with who you are and being able to control your emotions, I do not understand what you mean about trying to be an adult.

So you just assume that everyone starts acting like an adult out of the blue when they reach a certain age? That kids lead perfect lives all over the world and actually have a childhood to grow out of?

Your ignorance is showing, yet again.

It's about emotional maturity.

It's kind of obvious that a 5 year old is not mentally developed enough to carry themselves sensibly and be responsible like say a 15-16 year old

As I have said, being an adult just means that you can control your emotions effectively, and you are okay with who you are.

Hard to say... I have both mature and immature tendencies and am in some ways still very childlike; I sleep on the living room couch because I need the light and sound from the TV, but at the same time I appear to be the only one in my college classes who can be rational and articulate in a discussion or debate.

Not that 15-16 year olds are really responsible themselves.

And you don't start thinking rationally until you have to, which for most people is in adulthood. As far as I can tell, you're trying too hard to look like an adult when really you're nowhere near being an adult.

You know what? Neither am I. I just happen to realize that before I go and act like an adult when I really am not.

Not sure if there is a defining moment, it's just thrust upon you at 18.

When i was 16, I thought wow I was an idiot at 14.

When i was 18, I thought wow I was an idiot at 16.

When i was 20, I thought wow I was an idiot at 18.

Now I'm 22, I can see what an idiot I was at 20. I hope it continues this way throughout life.

This is basically how I feel. I really matured out of my childhood when I was 13 or 14, but I had extremely stupid ideas after that. I have had moments that aren't always my best, but that happens to everyone. I guess life is about making stupid mistakes and realizing how stupid they were later on. I laugh at how stupid I was in high school, and in two years, I'll probably laugh at how stupid I am now.

lol this has spoken true for me so far, though five years younger. I feel there certainly isn't a defining moment.

I feel like this is happening to me; I'm almost 18.
I actually miss my sense of vivid imagination, when I would get lost in my own world practically 24/7

At 15 or 16, I started loosing at ten fingers/never have I ever. (If you're not familiar with the game, that means I lost most innocence.) I got responsible jobs, and started getting almost perfect grades, when, before, I was smart enough to ace every class, but only did my homework when I felt like it. At 17, now, I get along well with my parents, but want to get out of my house because I hate having to rely on them for anything. (Thus, I do my even 1/3 share of cooking and housework.)

I lost my childhood the moment I began to be bullied at school, so, about 11 or so.

Most of you guys are getting the wrong idea of what I mean by losing childhood...

I mean the approximate age at when you were for the most part, grown, emotionally.

Maybe not *fully responsible adult*, but you could call yourself a man or woman.
