Hi, everyone!

Since school began I've met a lot of different people, and I realized that weird people make me nervous. By weird I don't mean quiet and awkward, I mean those quirky, spontaneous people who say random things and act a little hyper(a portion of Autistics are like this, from my experience). I just don't know how to deal with it. My personality is so heavily shielded and filtered around most people that I'm not capable of that sort of odd spontaneity, and I don't know how to respond to those people. I can't really go along with them and share their enthusiasm, all I can do is give them a funny look. It's not that I don't like these people, but I just can't share in their way of interaction and it stresses me out.

The only people I get along with well are those who are kind and friendly and go out of their way to reach out to me, or quit, nerdy kids who I just happened to end up talking to(which is rare- I never know what to say).

...So, any thoughts? Does anyone else feel the same way?

Also, some Aspies kind of annoy me and make me nervous as well. They're going on about something I'm not interested in for several minutes, and I can't find it within myself to tell them to stop, so I have to pretend I'm interested until they finally stop on their own. Gentle changing of the subject does not usually work. It's a bit nerve-wracking.

My best Aspie friend does this, but I put up with it and we get along just fine.

I feel the same way also. There's a few people in my school who will just say random stuff and try to be funny but they don't realize that what they're doing isn't funny at all.
