Does anyone else with AS, have a problem with telling other people ALL their personal business? This can be quite dangerous too. Like you don't know/think about what is innapropriate to talk about with other people?? Is that 1 of the symptoms of AS??
Thanks, Parrotnut.

I know you for a day you know my life story within a week LOL! While reading The Survival Guide to AS I read something about not everyone needs to know everything (something similar) so yes it's AS based I think it falls into social skills as in knowing what to say/don't say falls into telling your life story down to you shouldn't of said that but something else. :-)

OMG yes!! ! I do this so much. I have a problem with not telling people what's on my mind. So if I'm thinking about something personal, I'm going to say it out loud. I've told people stuff that I look back on and wish I haven't told them. When I first found out about PDD/AS, I told everyone I knew. People literally told me to stop talking about it because nobody cared.

I used to do this. I got out of the habit when I realized (or perhaps I was told...I can't remember) that I was making a fool of myself.

I know, I need to stop also, because it is quite dangerous.

I know I'm no longer an adolescent, but I just wanted to say this is something you can grow out of. I have learned to fight the tendency to share everything with everyone, because people have used stuff against me in the cruellest ways. But I'm glad to learn it's an aspie trait, since I've always felt like a terrible fool, and beaten myself up about it.

It's hard, but you can grow out of this tendency.

I'm 35 years old and I still do this, to my own detriment.

I still do this and it sucks. Eg today at the traffic lights.....

"Excuse me do you have the time?"
"It is 10.10am"
"thankyou and I think you look really beautiful in that sweater. The colour really suits you."
Strange look on face.
"I also think people don't give each other enough compliments. Not everyone is a size 8."
Looks like she wants to run off.
"I use to be skinnier before i had 2 children but now i seem to crave sugar and cant seem to curb my hunger. Hopefully i will never be quite as large as you."
Lady turns around and walks away.

Hmm, I have a problem with being TOO impersonal. I feel all awkward telling someone something personal about my life.

Same here. My family always complain that I never tell them anything.

I find it very hard to tell people about my personal business. The only time I can tell someone about something from my past is if that someone is in my family. But even some of my best friends don't know some of my past experiences and I'm perfectly fine with that since many things that I don't tell them are things that I'd rather forget. In fact, I had a friend who wanted to know my life story and I got very irritated with that since I liked hanging out with her in order to feel good about myself and forget those things.

I'm the opposite, I'm paranoid about telling anyone anything.

I have learned to tell people only what I would care about hearing. It has helped a lot.
