I listen to music from 2001 to 2010. I don't listen to oldies (50s to 80s music), but I listen to some music from the early '00s. Here are some of the songs I listen to that are from before 2004:
Miss Independent by Kelly Clarkson (2003): It's very catchy.
Everywhere by Michelle Branch (2001): It's kind of like a Demi Lovato song.
Get This Party Started by P!nk (2001): You know this song, right? "I'm coming out, so you better get this party started."

I love listening to Jessica Jarrell. She sings Up and Running and Almost Love. You might not have heard of her. She has a great voice.

I hate the song iYiYi by Cody Simpson. It's so annoying. I don't like heavy metal, Justin Bieber songs, or hard rock either.

-Zeromancer(hence the username)
-The Birthday Massacre
-The 69 Eyes

Favorite songs by these artist

The Birthday Massacre
-Pretty much everything they've done. I've listened to their new album that's coming out sept.14th. I'm not really digging "Pale" or "Midnight"

Zeromancer
-I like "Need you like a Drug" and their covers of "Send me an Angel" and "Doctor Online" as well as "Stop the Noise!"

The 69 Eyes
-I've listened to all of their work but didn't like all of it. "Framed in Blood", "Gothic Girl", "Perfect Skin" and "Beneath the Blue" are my favorites though.

P.S.
I am NOT Goth, Emo or Punk. Please don't ask me "r u Gawthik?"

All of those on the poll (and those mentioned above) make my ears bleed.
Listen to some classical/Classical, and some stuff that is classified as 'Indie'. I didn't say 'stuff that is Indie' because that would be like organizing a religion that consists of atheists, or joining a group of people who claim that they "don't conform". Also, you cannot go wrong with anything by The Beatles. But to elaborate upon my 'Indie' statement, check out Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend, Foxtrot, The Shins, Julian Casablancas, The Strokes, Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit, Broken Bells, The New Pornographers... et cetera. Also, listen to a last.fm on any of these artists.
I could write a good twenty paragraphs on my musical preferences, but I had to make it concise, as I have homework to do.

jmnixon you have to face the fact that music is a very subjective matter and what may be appealing to you to others it can be crap.

I have listened to plenty of indie groups, from coldplay to postal sevice, everything that didnt sound like most other songs was what I listened to at your age. As a matter of fact I still listen to songs like yellow, and I enjoy listening to the killers early work every now and then for example.

I have also tried several other kinds of music: pop, rap, electronic... Lately I have been listening to punk rock, a friend of mine showed me some songs of Green Day pre-american idiot and I became obsessed with billies work, I also tend to listen to stuff like alice cooper and Marilyn manson.

One of my latest obssesions has been Hayley Williams, I have made several playlists on my car where one out of every 2 songs is by paramore and every now and then someone starts complaining about how I shouldnt mix Hayley with things like kaiser chiefs. I have a question for that kind of people, what am I supposed to do, pretend I dont find her voice soothing just because her main audience is teenagers?.

I know it's subjective. I'm just tired of people who always want to blend in with everyone else. Maybe if they went and tried different things, they would find that they like them.

I love the song California Gurls by Katy Perry. "California girls, we're undeniable, fine, fresh, fierce, we've got it on lock, West Coast represent, now put your hands up, oh whoa oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh."

I saw a peek of the music video, but I immediately stopped watching it because it was (OMG) so inappropriate!

Sometimes for me it depends on the song not the artist. I like "Kiss" by London After Midnight.Dope Stars Inc did an awesome cover of that song. Dope Stars Inc also has good songs called "Make a Star" and "Fast and Beautiful".

Don't get me wrong I listen to alot of music. I like Pop and stuff so I'm pretty open minded. :)

I dislike all of the songs in your poll. Right now, my favourite songs are 'Venus In Furs' by the Velvet Underground, 'Calculation Theme' by Metric, and 'Harlequin Forest' by Opeth. Metric is the only 'girly pop band' that I actually like, not that I've heard them all.

Some of today's music is OK, but I prefer 80s and 90s music.
