What got me noticed was that I've always been a very very good writer. And extremely extremely bad at math.
I won more than one writing contest and then flunked more than one math class.
Also I was also really quiet and had very few friends. I always got a long with the foregin exchange students the best and loved to talk with the teachers from other countries more than I liked to be around other classmates.

In one high school I went to , people were saying I was going to shoot up the school.(this was soon after columbine) This was mainly the result of the human tradition of the ignorant rumor mill.
I actually had people say that about me too. Though kind of in a "you better stay away from that girl way." And my freshman year a bully told a teacher that she'd heard that I planned to commit suicide. Of course it was total BS. And the teacher thought it was hilarious and had a nice laugh with the bully in front of the class.
I still cringe when I see either of them around town because I still hate them both (the student and the teacher).
