When did you get diagnosed?
When did you start caring?

7, 8 with Adhd then AS at 10, and 14 respectively

I realized I was different about 4 years old (although I wouldn't have been able to express this at the time.)

I was diagnosed at 39.

I cared since I can remember.

Realized I was different at age 6 I think it was (people thought it odd that I prefered to sit on the edge of the playground writing out math with chalk rather than playing jump rope) self diagnosed at aroun 9 I think, properly diagnosed about a year later, and started caring at around 6 (not negatively)

I realized I was different at age 9, that is also when I cared (mostly because that was when the bullying started). Before then I did not notice I was different because the other kids put up with my differences and played with me.

My parents realized I was different when I was about 3, and I was tested for different things until I was 9. I was considered "gifted and talented" with autistic like traits, but because I had no language delay I was not diagnosed with AS until I was 24.

I realized that I was different at the age of about 5 or 6, then by age 8, I REALLY realized it...that's about the age when I cared, but I had no idea what to do about it, and some strong inkling told me that there was no way that I could change on a fundamental level (which turned out to be right - even in the 1980s before anyone knew about Aspergers). I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 7, put on Ritalin which gave me nightmares and hallucinations (apparently, the drug had some serious side-effects at the time) so was withdrawn from it. Then I was withdrawn from the rest of the world :(

Since I was in Pre-K. You know you're different when you're renting National Geographic documentaries
on animals and fish at Blockbuster while other kids your age are renting Barney.
Or when you're in the first grade and you would rather play with a microscope and spend the day at the library then go out and play.
Or when you're invited to your first Birthday party in pre-k and everyone is enjoying the loud music and food and clowns and kids entertainment and you're cowering in a corner covering your ears because the sounds are too loud and there are too many people and you just want to go home and play Nintendo.

Yup I knew I was different from a very early age. I wish I was diagnosed earlier than 24, but what can you do.

When did I realize that I was different?
Apparently, first grade: During one bus ride home, while I was in the fifth grade, I was approached by a seventh-grader who asked me, "When did you first realize that you were weird?" My reply: "Since I was in the first grade, when people started calling me 'weird'."
When did I start caring?
Ever since elementary school, I've taken pride in my unique approach to life.
When was I diagnosed?
I'm still working on this part, though a pediatrician once told my older sister that my traits very much resemble autism and nearly all of my family members are inclined to concur.

i have known i was different for as long as i can remember, but i cared the most during high school; although i stopped caring and accepted my being different when i went to college.
my official aspergers diagnosis was after i went to college and found out it existed, but i have been diagnosed with PDD-NOS, tourettes, social anxiety/paranoia and about 4 or 5 other things in the period from my 4th to my 12th...

Age 4, when my speech impediment (I still have an odd thick accent I've been told) made it hard to express myself through words with strangers/some family members.

I started caring around 9 when I realised I only had my family and video games/cds for amusement and wanted somebody I could play with.

Diagnosed at 5. Realized I was weird at 6, no one told me I had ASD. I didn't find out until I was 10.

I realize that I was different when I started to be introspective in third grade, when I realized that not everyone preferred reading and making up fantasy worlds to jumping rope and playing "girls catch boys".
I didn't really care, because I was able to ignore any and all verbal insults due to my logical judgment that they were either categorically untrue or not at all insulting until seventh grade, when I was forced to get my head out of the clouds. Fortunately, I've learned to project much more confidence than I really feel, so I dealt decisively with one persistent bully, who was humiliated enough to avoid me for the final year and a half of middle school, to my great relief.
I have not yet managed to work up the courage to ask my parents about diagnosis, unfortunately. They turn everything into "what do you think? how do you feel?" and I find that sort of thing extremely uncomfortable.

I realized that I was different from other kids when I was four. I spent time with only a few kids before preschool and was unsure of how a normal kid acted. I started realizing that something wasn't right when I was more interested in reading science books than fiction. My interests were a lot different from most kids my age. I also had a lot of trouble making friends and I often sat in the corner of my classroom. Another strange thing is that I knew my alphabet, could count to ten in three languages and had a big vocabulary from the time I was two or three years old. I matured mentally much faster than socially, which seems to be the opposite for most NTs; I matured backward in a sense.

When did I realize that I was different?
When I was around eight years old; I switched schools and was instantinously being unpopular, though I had no idea it was due to the social difficulties I had.
When did I start caring?
I started caring when I realized I was being different, but since I did not know true reason why I am being different, it really did not do much.
When was I diagnosed?
I self-diagnosed myself about 6 months ago. Regarding official diagnosis, I talked about possibility of autism to my psychotherapist, and her response was, that she is aware of me having probably an AS, since she diagnosed my younger brother with that. She said, however, that she does not view diagnosis as particularly helpful in my case; there are not any programs for adults with autism or AS. On the other hand, diagnosis could probably make a future job search more difficult for me.

As soon as I was more or less aware of myself and reached conclusions about things, around 6 years old.
