I listen to every genre but the bands/artists are fairly unknown and progressive. Off the top of my head:

Dragonforce isn't really metal it's more classical rock. I prefer Dragonforce to most metal unless I'm in a mood for hard metal.

I like dragonforce, disturbed, iron maiden, lana del rey, kings of leon, mika, coco rosie, birdy, ludovico einaudi, sigur ros, clint mansell, phillip glass, white lies, the killers(+brandon flowers), the national, florence and the machine, amy macdonald, angus and julia stone, moby, death cab for cutie, adele, eminem, ingrid michaelson, bright eyes, blue october, the xx, i blame coco, one republic, the fray, amy whinehouse, biffy clyro, the editors, muse, razorlight, 30 seconds to mars, the verve, snow patrol, etc.

that's most of them, there are probably a couple more I like though.

Linkin Park, Skillet and Skillet for rock ( and its variants) and
instrumental ( anime soundtracks and Legend of Zelda songs)

The sort of music I like to listen to are

Rock like Gun's N Rose's, Bon Jovi, The Darkness, Foo Fighters
Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Savage Garden, Eurythmics, Bruce Springteen, A-ha, Duran Duran and now The Black Eyed Pea's.

Most of all, I like a bit of a mix.

Boston, ELO, Queen, Journey, Weezer, Bee Gees, Styx, Kansas, Samuel Barber, The Killers, Led Zeppelin, John Williams, Midnight Oil, Big Country, Beethoven and The Who.

Vocaloid Music, Indie Rock such as Arcade Fire, Anime Songs

Early 2000s metal, alternative metal, hard rock, heavy metal, funk rock, I can keep going. Favorite bands: Across the Sun, Rush, Otep (not the spoken word), Taproot, and Trivium.

Early 2000s mtal, industrial metal, hard rock and progressive metal, with a touch of grunge.

As in the "Spirit of the Radio" guys? I love the complexity of their music and how they can quickly switch tempos and moods, right in the middle of the song. Unfortunately, it used to be lost on my iPod.

I listen to mostly metal bands such as Rhapsody Of Fire, Gamma Ray, Stratovarius, Saxon, Kamelot and Savatage. More recently I've been getting into Candlemass. I listen to some rock as well but metal is the most dominant in my music library.
