Nervous about driving in the future

When it comes to racing video games, I just tend to accelerate the whole time and scrape my way around corners. I do not think that would be a good idea in real life .

Yeah, I pretty much knew that I would learn the gears and pedals soon enough, it still worries me though. However, I worry about everything. But keeping an eye on multiple things at once is the one thing that I rationally think I may actually have trouble with.

@Zender: Aaah, yeah. I think the best thing you can do is just try it yourself. I was kinda nervous too, but once you're actually there behind the wheel of an actual car, it isn't as bad as you thought it would be.

Well, driving is a valuable skill that we can learn. You don't have to, but knowing how to drive is very convenient. This is coming from a guy who almost crashed a car into a tree on his first time.

Driving isn't that hard, it just takes practice. It's intimidating at 1st, but after a while, it becomes really fun. When I 1st started driving, I was horrible and very bad and nervous. I was scared to go on an interstate for the longest time, took me forever. But now, interstates are the things I look forward to the most on the road. They're SO much fun! You get to go so fast and no stop lights!! Although, I'd say that, the hardest part of driving is big city traffic. That stuff is a hassle and can be somewhat nerve-racking. You need to be paying a ton of attention to everything around you. If you don't live in the big city and don't plan on going to the big city much, you shouldn't be to worried about driving.

I did not want to learn how to drive, either. But as I am from a big family and we live out in the country, I had no choice. It also took me forever to actually get the courage to do it, my motivation ended up me not wanting my next younger brother to drive before I could.

Practice in a large parking lot many times, that helps a ton as you can figure out where everything is, get used to it, and figure out what habits you can form to focus and remember what you need to do. Try to practice driving on country roads before you try city roads. Then move to the highway, very easy as the speed limit doesn't change. Then and only then do you try the city roads. I do not like driving in the city, but I have to do it anyway.

I'm not nervous since I'm already learning steering. I'm 14 going on 15 and I can't get my learners until I'm 16 so I still have a year.

It isn't really that hard once you get over the initial nervousness.

I can't drive and nor do I want to. I'd much rather take public transportation.

I hate driving, but my parents told me if I don't learn now then I'll have to learn on my own, without their help, eventually. So I've learned and managed to do it. But I HATE it. I much prefer mass transit. It's better for the environment too.

I'm 16 with AS, I can drive pretty decent. My weakness is missing signs-especially stop signs. Just start off in a quiet neibourhood area with few cars. Try hard to watch out for signs, and if your instructor keeps telling you when there are signs ahead, ask them to not do that. Tell the ot instead keep you in a quieter place until you can get used to focusing well.

Don't be nervous, driving is really, really fun, especially when you drive a standard. I've been driving for almost 2 years, and I just bought my first car. Driving is especially great when you live in the middle of nowhere and there's no public transit. The only thing that sucks is that gas is bloody expensive, and insurance companies enjoy taking all your money (when you drive a "sports" car, anyways).

I was worried at first, and it was scary even driving 5mph around a parking lot. I remember dreading getting on the highway, but it wasn't long after that I actually did. And let me tell you, that first time was one of the best experiences of my life to date. It's this huge adrenaline rush and then the next thing I knew I had been on the highway for twenty minutes. My self confidence went up 500% that day. Then again, I grew up playing Gran Turismo all the time when I was in elementary school, and I've always loved racing go-karts. Don't get me wrong, driving is definitely dangerous, I've had quite a few close calls and I've not been driving for more than a year, but you can do it. You just have to be careful and, take my advice, do not hesitate to make a split second decision, and don't let people in the car distract you.

im a little worried because i don't know what to expect

I really don't want to drive because I often get distracted by many things while walking or riding a bike that I often bump into other people, and if I get distracted while driving on the road, the consequences won't be good.
