Diagnosed with stereotypies (Which are what stims are) at 3 and ADHD at 4. Then I was diagnosed-shockingly-aspergers at 13 and I got so offended (I no that's immature-but I was at an immature age) and upset. But now I'm totally over it. :D I was always different from other kids. Even bullied. I never understood why till this point.

Well, I suppose I had Asperger's my whole life as it's something we're born with. In the early years I was neglected so, if I did have something wrong with me, no one noticed. Then I went into foster-care and have been living with the same foster-family since I was five.

When I was nine (third class of primary school), the special-needs teacher took me out of the class and got me to play with the special-needs kids for a day. It was a lot of fun. When I went home, I told my fostermum. She got angry and told the special-needs teacher that it was inappropiate for her to take me out of class like that. I wasn't allowed to go play in the special-needs classroom again after that. I might be wrong but I think the teacher that took me out of class knew that I had some form of autism. My behaviour prior to that was disruptive, so maybe that's how she knew.

When I was twelve and started secondary school, I found the change difficult: secondary school's a lot different than primary school. I was disruptive and very disorganised. I ended up getting suspended in that first year (before becoming super-quiet throughout the rest of secondary school). In that first year, one of the special-needs teachers started teaching me on an individual basis every Monday, to help me be more organised. The teachers definitely knew I had autism at that stage. Again, my fostermother said that they were lying. She managed to take me out of special-needs class the next year.

Then, when I was sixteen, my behaviour started becoming very disruptive again. My social worker got contacted and, to my fostermother's dismay, I was made get a diagnosis. I got diagnosed shortly afterwards, in Easter 2012 (by which time, I was seventeen).

I'm meant to be getting a reassessment now that the state exams are over but my fostermother hasn't talked to me about that yet. I doubt she ever will, to be honest.

TL;DR

1. I've had Asperger's since I was born.
2. Teachers started finding out when I was nine. My fostermum didn't beleive them.
3. Teachers definitely knew I had some form of autism by the time I was twelve. She didn't believe them.
4. I got an official diagnosis when I was seventeen. She's still in denial.
5. I'm meant to be getting a reassessment now that the state exams are over. She still hasn't talked to me about that.

I was diagnosed at about 3 or 4, because I had a speech delay. It was shortly after diagnosis that I was moved out of mainstream playgroup and placed in a special primary school, but now I go to a mainstream high school.

My mom said I started having trouble after my MMR vaccines. My family knew long before I did. I did not know why I had to go to therapy. As a 5 year old girl, I thought it was normal to go to therapy and speech and thought of it as fun. In 2nd grade, I could not understand why thr kids laughed at me. Later in life, I asked if I was different. I did not find until I was 13 years old even though I was diagnosed younger.

I was diagnosed in 7th grade because one of the assistant principals at my school noticed a trend in behaviours that were apparently indicative of AS, so I was tested multiple times and came up positive... that was... 8 years ago...

I was diagnosed with Aspergers at 2 years and 3 months old, in 1995. My mom noticed some odd behaviors of mine, such as fixations on light switches and swirling water, and I wasn't acknowledging verbal cues from my parents or responding to my name. My aunt's boyfriend noticed this and told my parents he thought I might be deaf, so my parents got me tested, and more tests and references led to the Aspergers diagnosis. My verbal development wasn't ultimately delayed too significantly, but there were other oddities. For instance, I only ate Eckridge Farm cheese-stuffed hotdogs sliced into six precisely equal-length pieces with the ends removed for a year straight.

I was formally diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome when I was around 11-years-old, and my mom was the one who initiated the idea that I might have it, as well as the one who set up the meeting with the woman who diagnosed me.

Just a few weeks ago, and a therapist-type-person I don't know the proper term for is the one who diagnosed it.
He was like, 'Are you surprised?'
I just said, "Not really. I kind of expected this."
And then my mom just kinda stared at me for a minute. Awkward meeting much?

I was officially diagnosed a few months ago, so I was/am 23.

When I first came across the Wikipedia article on Asperger's, it was a few years back - I was 21 at the time. I self-diagnosed at 22.

Having a sense I was different than others? That happened as soon as I started grade school.
