Speed limit was 100 indeed...150km/h, you get taken to court! Scary thing is, I was another 20 over that when I was at my fastest, getting really close to bouncing off the top of my speedo... (long story short, do NOT go out of your way to hold me up on the motorway!) After 170km/h, they can't get you...it's too blurry...

Passed on my second attempt. I failed the first time because I turned left onto a one-way street and went into the far lane (as if it was a two-way street) instead of the nearest lane available... I didn't make that mistake the second time (two weeks later), and passed.

I don't have a car.

Not yet, I'm not old enough to do so but probably I'll drive like an old man.

I'm currently preparing to take my first test in March. I'm not great, but I'm not a bad driver either (or at least not horrible) as long as I have sunglasses on. Oh, and as long as someone is sitting with me telling me exactly where to go and letting me know in advance when we have a turn. I'm bad at directions.

I've got my permit, still accumulating enough training hours so I can take my test. (In Tennessee, you must have 50 hours behind the wheel before they will let you test.)

That's a good idea. Here, it's 6 months minimum on a learner's license :)

I got my license on the fourth try, at the age of 19.

Needless to say, not having a license in high school held me back a lot. Since I hated asking my parents to drive me, I memorized the schedule for nearly every bus in my area, and took them wherever I needed. At the same time, I went to a suburban high school, where you were practically nothing if you didn't drive. As a result, I didn't even try to ask girls out, although my AS was probably a big contributing factor. In college, I briefly dating someone while not having a car, although it was hard to see her more than once a week, due to inconvenient bus schedules. After I passed my license and got the car, thing slowly began to chance. With the car (or lack thereof to be exact) out of the equation, I could finally start asking girls out. Now I drive to most places, although remembering the local bus schedules still helps me a great deal, such as when I'm too drunk to drive or when I need a ride. Instead of calling a cab or asking a friend for a ride, I simply take the bus.

I got my learners permit for the first time when I was 16.
It expired before I got my provisional licence.
Then I got my learners licence again just a few weeks ago, at age 23 :P

BTW Shale, you really shouldn't drive so fast :?

After not doing much with several permits, I got my license to get my parents off my back, but I don't drive. Everything happens so fast and my depth perception could be better. I'm afraid that I'll hurt someone.

I can drive pretty well though the woman I'm driving for is a b***h and keeps demanding so much of me. It's not like I'll use the car for much more than cruising the motor way and driving into the small town where the train station is from my home on the countryside. But she insists on taking us into this big quarter million city where people drive like madmen and there are thousand and one things to keep track of. Bikes are especially dreadful, man, I hate those.

My situation is actually so strange that I don't think it fits under a category. I'm old enough for my learner's permit, but I haven't taken the time to study for the test, so I haven't taken the test yet.

I drive, but it took me forever to learn.

I really don't like driving in busy environments because it stresses me out a lot, but I love driving down scarecly populated highways and other roads where I am usually the only car and there aren't many places where I have to stop.

I'm actually nervous about the whole process. I'm sure I'd so fine on the test, but I think that the actual action of driving would stress me out too much. As it is, I'm already clutching the handle of the door next to me when my dad's driving, and I've seen a fair share of close calls on the road. It doesn't help that I'm in a rather chaotic city.

I passed on the first try! I have never been in an accidents excpet when I put a big dent in the side of mini-van when getting out of a parking spot in the first year of driving. (It was not reported or anything because the other car was one ton truck!) I've been driving since the fall of 2001 and I love it. I really miss driving when I'm a school because I don't have a car with me. (My choice: I didn't want to deal with it!) However, I have to have radio playing when I'm driving even if someone is talking to me.

where's the option for: i haven't had lessons because i'm scared of phoning the instructor (i don't like talking to people on the phone, especially people i don't know)
