I'm 17 but I have no friends because I act way too mature & that freaks most of the punks out.
I began to intellectually/emotionally mature when I first heard of AS and that was back in January of 2006!

My NT friends refer to me as either Mad scientist/Grandma.
probably due to my binge drinking of tea and my talents for performing Disections.
i guess levels of maturity vary by how much your willing to talk about it.

I'm starting to feel like an old person myself. I want to be left alone, I don't want meddling kids messing with my day, I do get pretty sore, probably because I go on the computer a lot.

I 100% agree -- in fact I was going to make a similar topic before I saw yours :) I have always felt really mature for my age. My dad says I have the mind of an old man :) which I see as a good thing, seeing how my fellow teenagers in high school act.

Yeah... I do.
I'm younger than most kids in my class (of 2009) but I find (just by comparing their current behavior with that of my own past) that I had the level of maturity most of them possess now, one, two, or more years ago. With kids who are my actual age (in years, not just their graduation year) the maturity gap seems even larger. I often think they act like children, or are just far too easily amused by things that seem completely lame to me. And they never want to talk abotu anything serious.
I tend to get along best with 18-21 year olds, even though they are a few years older than me.
I'm glad I appear older too, because I'd hate to be seen as an annoying younger kid when I hangout with my college age friends.

Yeah, most of my friends are older then me. However, I was told that I looked younger then a 14 year old o.O I think it was because I was extremely shy (for some reason people accomodate shyness with younger kids, I'm not too sure why *shrugs*) and my hair is longer and not dyed like this girl was. :P I mean, we are friends and all, but that kind of did bother me. :?

I feel like a am mentally in my 30's instead of 16. I've always felt ahead of my peers.

Most of the time, yes. I watch what the ones my age are doing (Getting drunk/high, smoking, sleeping with everyone they can) and I think...why on earth would I wanna be doing that? Oo Can't they see that getting drunk/high/smoking/sex will eventually come back to hit them. What doesn't help is I'm obsessed with human anatomy, so not only do I think doing these things in excessive is slightly foolish, I also know what damage it does...which, for some reason, my peers don't care about? o.o

Also, unlike them, I care more about what happens in the long run. I have gotten /so/ fed up of every adult on the planet asking me if I have a boyfriend yet that I've started answering very sharply "No. Some of us prefer things like studying thank you" which probably does sound rude. I just wish these people would stop thinking I was like everyone else and that boys are top of my agenda. Which they're not.

I think I've ranted enough ^^;

I have always felt older than I am. Most of the time I just feel like my peers are doing stupid things. I usually feel like I'm around 30 when I'm 17. I have even had comments from people I didn't even know that I seem more mature than my age. Then other times people look at me and think I'm 12 or something, not because of how i'm acting but becase of how I look. Physically, I haven't changed since I was 12 (not grown taller or more muscular -even in sports). It seems that all I have done in the past 5 years was age mentally...

As my dad used to say, I'm "10 going on 40." I act everything but my own age. Socially I'm way behind everyone else - I don't get why everyone is so interested in the things they are, and I'm more idealistic and escapist than realistic (or does realizing this make that a contradiction? It's what I've heard at least). On the other hand, intellectually and in some ways emotionally, I'm ahead of the game. I know what I want out of life, I understand that actions have consequences, and I'm much more interested in the deeper things in life than what's right there and easy to grasp. But I look around at people my age, and I think it's better to be this way, even though I may be behind in some respects - I sure don't want to be like most of them! Eventually I think the way I am will be a benefit rather than a problem, just not now.

People even in person tend to think I'm older than I am, and I usually feel older than they mistake me for.

Academically, I'm better read than half the adults I've met in my life. I'm thirteen, and someone thought I was in college 'cause I quoted Kant.

You know guys. I remember joining this forum at 13 or 14 and I felt older then I actually am.

I'm 16 years old and I feel that I am 13 or 12 years old. :P

I guess I'm getting more stressed out by my life at the moment. I'm really afraid of growing up. :P
