Sexuality related insults
At my school they had a large talk about words like fa***t/fag (that one I think has a nasty history that includes burning at stake fa***t= bundle of sticks (often used to burn people) in Middle Ages Europe thay burned people for sexual activities involving same gender I think.) gay as insult I think and ret*d. Truly I do not think they took it to heart as I think I have heard ret*d still used sometimes and I have never heard fa***t (becase of the talk they must have used it often but I am disconnected from my classmates) but once someone said something sounding like "queer" to me after gossiping loudly outside my change room stall. They said "are they gay?" and "why are they changing in there?"" lol lol"(Truly this may the modern proper way as they worded it in a proper way so disregard that, does not change the fact that it is not for them to care about as I am not friends with them and barely know them and that they were being gossipy jerks because afterwards they went and talked about it some more) have not been in a bad way but (only two stalls I refuse to change in the open and the other stall had someone in it so I had to share with a friend). They did it twice. I find it disheartening that they choose to continue with these hurtful actions after being informed.Truly I wonder how these words came to be used in this context?
